Wet G3

Hi guys,

I dropped by G3 in a tub filled with soapy water along with my sheets. I managed to locate it fast and wiped it and quickly managed to open the cover and took the battery out.

After making a quick search, I decided to drop my disassembled g3 into a container with rice with the hopes that the rice will absorb all the moisture out.

After 10 hours, I decided to boot the phone and it failed. I decided to keep it in the rice just the same.

After 24 hours, I tried again and voila it booted. Then I saw the water marks / stains on my screen. :/ But hey, the phone is working. Cam works too etc.

Now question:

+ does anyone think its safe to charge my g3 despite the water stains on the screen? I am concerned I might zap this phone for good if ever?

I did my research and yes, I have buried my phone in rice etc. It managed to power back thank goodness and seemed to be in good working condition except for water stains on the screen.

The question is: is it ok to charge my phone now? I have turned it off and on several times now and it boots just fine.

I havn't got any personal experience of the problem.....the reason why the article was posted for possible guidance. If it were me with the phone in that state; I think I'd have been inclined to stick it out for the recommended 72 hours before booting up, let alone charging.....you may be lucky, but chances are other problems will develop in time....that's only my opinion.

Another way to evaporate the water is to leave the phone in a hot area of your house or car for a while. Then let it cool a few hours and it should be dried up completely.

Even if it is alright in the short term, you're very likely to have problems due to getting it wet at some point.

I do NOT recommend leaving it in a hot car for any length of time. The temps that are attained on a nice summer day would likely cause more damage than the water had.

yeah probably true. I did this with my htc one x after being thrown in a pool. Left it off and in the rental car in Las Vegas's 100+ degree weather and the next day was working normal.
