What a letdown (Stock Quantities)

Re: What a letdown

I'm going to give Google a pass on the supply this time. There would have been plenty of stock available except for one little thing... The Samsung Galaxy Note 7. They did not anticipate the extra demand for the Pixel due to the recall of the Note 7. There are a ton of people who ordered Pixels (me included) specifically for this reason. I didn't want one, but it was the next best thing on the market if you want to stay Android.

This is just my theory...

Yep, this...

I don't understand why all the lemming/guinea pigs need to buy a particular phone the minute it is available. I never purchase technology that way. Let everyone else deal with the teething problems with shipping, software, hardware, etc. Wait until you have a chance to read test reports and examine one yourself. There are no advancements here that make the Pixel something that you can't wait for.

Different people have different wants/needs.

Sticking with a phone that isn't meeting my wants in the name of waiting doesn't make sense. The new phones I have bought this year (the iPhone SE and Honor 8), I did the whole chasing game and it was worth it for me. I don't regret that. The ones that have been out for a while that I decided to try have all been disappointing in one way or another. I can't imagine just waiting for a whole month with a crappy phone. That's enough time to get something else.

But what if I enjoy testing and seeing new phones? -- Also yes there are things I "can't" wait for. The camera on my current phone is not even in the same ballpark and I enjoy good photos of my nephew / family :).

Nothing wrong with it if you enjoy the testing and you are willing to deal with the inevitable teething problems that every new piece of technology has. For myself I enjoy more using a product that is well tested and has had major bugs worked out, or at least identified and understood before I get it. For example, the camera was reported to be great by Google, but how would you know that to be true until you could read test reports from a variety of sources? Luckily, that has turned out to be true, but with some caveats.

But there are those of us who are coming from the Note 7s... yes I got it right away - both times.... But Samsung had a good reputation and I loved my Note 4 until I got the Note 7 which was the best....

But I am very much loving my Pixel XL 32 gb..... Unless something really quirky happens - hardware issues etc. I am staying with the pixel phones - I really love the speed and simplicity and NO bloatware..... Here's hoping they make a note style phone with pen... :)

oh yea - Best Buy doesn't even have any 32gb to pre-order..... I think the demand for pixels was totally unexpected.... I love mine so much that I convinced my hubby to get one :)

I've worked for a cell phone company for the last few years.

Apple is even worse...but I believe it to be on purpose.

Every year since the plus was announced that has been the hot seller, yet Apple has never supplied us with any on launch day. (someone right now is still waiting for a 7+ jet black and he ordered on 09/10).

When we finally do receive inventory from Apple it's always in higher gb models, becuase they know the customer will splurge and buy anyone that is available. We got very few 32gb iPhone 7's in and mainly got 128 or 256 near launch... They still sold of course

I work at one of the top stores in the county and can say at least through our channel, the note launch is probably 20% of an Apple launch in terms of sales so although Samsung has ample quantity, I'm not sure it's a fair comparison between them and Apple

I think Google is still learning but one thing Google doesn't have is many channels here to sell the phone. It's either fi, Google store, or Verizon

If you don't have Verizon, they won't sell it to you there. And fi is kind of risky to some, so really boils down to everyone getting it on the same site, Google store.
