What am I doing wrong with the camera?

My indoor shots look terrible, and some outdoor shots with cloud cover. Out of focus, or soft, or something. I'm seriously dissatisfied with my camera indoors. Outside, photos look really great, but unless I'm doing something wrong, the GS3 (or mine) seems to struggle in low light. Anyone else having the same problem? Side by side with my Rezound and iPhone the GS3 looks terrible.

I agree. Outdoor shots come out better than indoor ones

I agree. I'm a photographer and I notice tons of noise - my Dinc2 took better pics? The 0 shutter lag is great but lots of pics out of focus

Galaxy S3 - Locked...

I totally agree. I returned my GS3 becuase of it and now have a Rezound that is awesome! The camera kicks booty.

I thought something was wrong with mine too but it turned out there was some kind of residue on the lens which made the pictures look soft and slightly out of focus. I just had to wipe it off and the pictures are crystal clear.

I am also a little bit dissappointed by the camera. I feel like my old DX took better quality pictures than my S3. I played around with my friend's One X and the camera on that phone is simply amazing, compared to my S3.

I have had no issues with my camera and even have taken action shots just using the single shot and they turn out fine! I take pics of my kids playing soccer and I love how they turn out. My rezound could not produce the same quality! My rezound had a good camera but I think this one is better! I find the flash to be pretty good, much better then any previous phone! I used to have to take 4 or 5 pics indoors before I got a good one with my rezound!

How is it even possible that you are taking "action" shots?
I can't even take a pic of my 16 month old waving without it being blurry.
This camera is horrible for anything but still shots.

Are you touching the screen to set the focus point and get a GREEN box before firing??

Dont know if you have seen "Blurry Pictures" thread:

My post on there:

My friend and I had same problem. 80% of his shots at Comic-Con were blurry!

We had Droid 1, Rezound, Triump and lots of LG feature phone with few blurry pictures. Friend told me to focus and wait a few seconds for camera to focus. That helps. Also found that on camera mode, click on setting and you will see Edit Shortcuts on top and Focus mode on bottom. However, keep scrolling down and there are more settings! If you turn Anti-Shake to on, some of the pictures will improve!

I've yet to get any great pics, but I admit, I haven't even tried.

I've seen what my friend's EVO 4G LTE does and I was impressed. All the reviews said the SG3's was better, so I haven't been worried. Hmmmm.

Wow I'm coming from a DX as well, and I couldn't disagree more. I've found the SG3 camera to be great, and a HUNDRED times better than the absolutely useless camera from the DX. Zero shutter lag, and images come out crisp and clear. My girlfriend even tried taking some pictures of me in the dark with the flash and my face came out crystal clear with no noise (a little TOO detailed actually haha). The HD video is fantastic as well - moving around the camera caused almost no blurring, unlike my DX where I literally would have to pan at a snail's pace for it to be remotely watchable.

I really don't see what everyone is talking about with the blurring issue. The only time I've had any blurring taking pictures is if I drastically move my hand right before taking the shot. Holding it normally results in a crisp shot for me, and that's without spending more than a second pointing the camera OR using the anti-shake feature (haven't needed it).

The only issue I have is with the gallery...you can only use the editing features prior to taking the picture, not after (which is hard to understand cuz you could apply all of the same features either in the camera app or in the gallery pics on the DX).

Here's a decent example of what I'm talking about--this picture is outside, but it's a bit cloudy, waited for it to focus, and it just looks bad. It doesn't look horrible, because it's legible, but it's soft, blurry, out of focus.

I'm pretty disappointed with this camera.

I can't make any claims about the camera quality as I've only taken a couple snaps with mine, but the predominant issue with the blurriness in that picture you posted is motion blur, which is user induced.

I think the fast shutter on this phone is causing people more camera shake issues compared to phones that used to take a second or two to take the picture. The phone is taking the picture while you are still poking the back of the screen and that motion is blurring the results.

The 2 things that helped me were turning the anti shake on and touching the screen to focus. I get great pics now instead of soft, blurry, out of focus pics.

I posted about this same issue over at Phandroid. It appears to be a stock app issue, since FXcamera takes great indoor pictures. The stock app takes blurry pictures in lower light.

Ive had some luck. Just gotta make sure you hold down the shutter button if you want it to focus right somtimes.

Here is a picture that I just took of some phones I'm trying to sell. It looks great to me. It is in doors and didn't even have good lighting where I took it.

Do you hold down the shutter button until it beeps? The beep tells you it is in focus.

Camera's, generally speaking, don't like to take pictures in low light. And if you get a lot of noise, that is probably because there isn't enough light and it is having to set the ISO high.
