I am thinking about staying with the native Samsung app because I think Google messages is meh. But it is just a texting app, right? Anyway, just curious about what apps you all like.

Been using Textra (full paid version) for a few years now and have no complaints. I think it was only like $5 for the full version of it. Not really sure if/how it's any kind of real upgrade over the stock messaging app on the Note 20 though. Haven't really spent any time messing with the stock app to see what kind of improvements and new features it has.

Stock with stock keyboard. I hated the keyboard at first and used swiftkey but I forced myself to use the stock because of the extra features and once it starts learning your way of texting, it's really good. I also like being able to put a picture of the contact as the background and it will incorporate the colors from the picture into it.

Used Textra for a few years but over the last year using the stock messaging app.

Been using Textra. I've wanted to go back to the stock app because it's gotten better over time but there's one feature that keeps me using Textra that the stock app doesn't have. If Samsung were to ever make it to where you can assign individual people certain notification icons, I'd start using the stock app for sure.

I'm a paid Textra user that has started to use the stock app again. Textra is fantastic, but I decided to try the stock app in hopes of global RCS functionality one day and I think Samsung is supposed to be working with Google on RCS functionality in the stock app whereas Google has not made RCS api available to third party apps yet. Otherwise, I would have probably stuck with Textra. Google messages seems a bit bland to me so far.

I also used Mood, which was fun because of the animated emojis, but it's gotten a little bloated.

As a throwback I use google messages. But it's really only there for receiving 2FA texts .

Can't remember the last time I actually sent a sms. Everyone I know has used WhatsApp for some time.

Sammy messages for me. If Google messages ever gets "pinned" conversations, I'll consider switching. Stock messaging app is too good, & RCS just isn't at its full potential yet for me to switch to Google's.

Google messages for me, consistency with my other phones and prefer it (my opinion of course). Though I'm biased since I don't prefer any Samsung app or service for that matter, only like their hardware and no issues with One UI but won't use any Samsung app or service. All my Samsung apps end up in a graveyard folder

Thank god I have the choice to use Google/Microsoft apps and services which is what I use on all my phones.

I use textra because last I remember the Samsung app didn't let you use Gifs....Is that still a thing? I'd be willing to give it another go round if it isn't
