What are your current gripes with the Pixel / XL?

No battery percentage in the notification bar without swiping down into quick toggles. Every other phone pretty much has this in 2016. Agree with others that getting used to the fingerprint sensor on the back is going to take some time. It's super snappy though. Overall very impressed.

The FPS on the back is a super quick was to wake screen and unlock at same time.

My grip is that the notification sounds are too quiet- even with volume cranked all the way.

The speaker itself is enough for what I use it for (in the kitchen while cooking) and I use a UE Roll as.my speaker while showering and using a hairdryer.

I used Play Music for my music on Android phones. I do notice skipping, ALOT, while listening and streaming.

Overall, I love this phone. I jumped Samsung's ship and purchased this phone. I also keep an iPhone 7, because I get bored easily. Lol!

Google, being a cutting edge technology company, failed to put cutting edge technology on this phone; no AOD, no wireless charging, no sd card, no water proofing, etc. I would have also preferred a removable battery. I do like the phone but coming from the Note 7 I wish these were part of this phone.I realize Google is giving you unlimited cloud storage but that is just not my first choice. I would rather store my information on my sd card than in the cloud.

After seeing one in the store I do like the build quality of the phone. I like the look of the phone. It looks very similar to the iPhone. I also like the camera on this phone. I have to return my Note 7 so it comes down between this phone and the LG V20. I am waiting for some user reviews before I burn through some cash on either phone.
I want an lg v20 with no second screen (too make it smaller) or pixel xl with a 5.7 inch screen and smaller bezels. Is that really too much to ask?

I just don't understand what people actually store that much of with cloud services available.

We don't have the luxury of Unlimited Data up here. TBH, I'm not a fan of Streaming besides doesn't it also use up more battery.

Am sure you know what you are doing, but just in case you are missing a small step or for anyone else that has questions about the same...
How to take a screenshot on the Google Pixel | Android Central

I do have a question for Pixel/XL owners. How is the display out in daylight/bright sun?

My experience in bright sunlight varies. Sometimes it's fine. Othertimes it seems to be dark. The only time I've had an issue really, is in my car. I have a dock on my vent so that while i'm driving I can look right at the phone if i get a notification. With my Galaxy phone it lit up nice and bright if i got a text and i could just glance at it. I'm noticing with the Pixel, when I get a notification and it's bright outside I can't see it at all. I have to pick the phone up and hit the button and it lights up. This is, more than likely, something I could change? I just assume I'm doing something wrong or have something set up wrong.

And as far as the speakers go? I think they are fine. I can hear everything. Of course, I don't play my music through my phone very often without wearing headphones. Because it's a phone. If I want to listen to music I bluetooth it or listen to another source. Complaining about this phone because the speakers are underpowered and don't have enough bass and range? Ok, if that's what you are into. Go purchase a phone that has awesome speakers, but lacking in everything else. Lol.

This phone is fantastic. The camera is ridiculous. I'm coming from a Galaxy 5. I don't constantly upgrade so this was a big move. Glad I did it.

When I use bluetooth headphones to listen to audiobooks, 2 different sets of headphones from different mfg, the button to stop and restart the replay doesn't work. Though it paired seamlessly with my Hyundai Sonata, the button there to stop/start the audio also does not function.

Price. My 256GB Rose Gold iPhone 7 Plus cost me $799 to upgrade, Google wants me to pay $769 for 128GB?!?

The iPhone 7+ 256GB is actually $969. And the 128GB Pixel XL is $869. So it's $100 more for 128GB extra memory on the iPhone 7+.

Does the Pixel give you unlimited picture storage or unlimited Cloud storage (Google Drive). Because that is a huge difference.

Most of my stuff is not pictures that is stored on my SD card (soon to be 128GB Pixel XL) and I am going to have somewhat limited space now that 120GB or so is all I'll have, compared to my S7 Edge with 148GB available storage. These non-pictures mostly include movies and digital comic archives which are ridiculously numerous and large.

Not to mention a limited data plan with Verizon (I only pay $60/month for two people and shared 2GB data). I am on WiFi most of my day but it's infinitely more convenient being able to playback or view content locally (more speedy + battery efficient) versus doing it through an LTE radio.

With unlimited online storage for your photos and videos, you’ll never have to delete an old memory to make room for a new one. And Pixel keeps everything safe and secure: photos, videos, music, contacts, texts, and more.

;). You knew this already sir!

I don't have the Pixel (still holding on to HTC One M7) but was considering it. After this thread, not anymore.

I know you usually should make your own opinions on phones but certain factors have put me off such as how fragile the phone is based on recent reports whereas I've dropped my current phone a number of times and it has just minor scratches, the lens flare issue, the price compared to what it offers vs its competitors, and to me, it just feels like a trial phone whereas the pixel 2 might have everything it currently lacks such as 64gb storage, waterproofing, perhaps sd cart support and...if keeping the current bezels, add front facing speakers. I just feel this phone could have had so much and missed.

Again this is just my point of view. I'll hold on to next year's line of phones and see what will be offered then.

Only gripes are the weak speaker. And signal strength is not as good as my Moto XPE had.

To me this phone is everything but a trial phone in the 10 days that I have owned it, it has hands down the best phone I have used. As for SD options, I seriously think that cloud storage is soon going to become the norm. It's the way life rolls. I will admit I miss it too as all of my other phones had removable storage, but if companies can make more money by charging for the storage vs a removable card option, they are going to do it.

I am sure the next one, will probably offer waterproofing etc, but if you want something, why hold off or let a few nits hold you back? I wished for waterproofing too but I will hang on to my phone until next year and see what they have to offer. The thing that I don't get is just because one particular phone may offer it, it all of a sudden becomes the norm for everyone else. When the new iPhone is released next year and if the rumors are true it will not have any bezel at all and be all screen, all of a sudden everyone is going to complain that the new lines of phones that will be coming out don't have it.

If I was to wait for my perfect phone to come along, I would still be using styrofoam cups and strings. Everyone likes what they like and hold off for what they like but I think they let too many issues come into play that messes with their deciding factor. Just my 2 cents sorry for the rant here

Moto's are the king of signal. I get about the same signal as my previous phone had but as long as it can hang on to it, which so far has not let me down I don't care how many bars are showing. I don't pay attention to that too much. Speaker is not the greatest for me but not the worst one I have ever encountered either. All in all I am happy with my purchase. I am sure google will be taking notes and paying attention to what people may expect and may want and hopefully build from that in the future

Thank you for this!!! I was always wondering why there I couldn't find a way to keep the screen on when the device was charging. I flipped the toggle and now it works

Have you opened developer options yet? You have to do that first. If you haven't then you have to go to settings, then about phone and the tap build number 7 times. It will then tell you you are a developer. Then you should be able to long press on the little cog in the corner to open up the system settings. Go back into settings all and there will be an option for it. Hope this helps

Once you have looked at settings in there, is there a way to make it non visible again?
