What are your current gripes with the Pixel / XL?

Yes, I've been using it for a couple years. But I'm not sure what the difference with the pixel is

On the Pixel, you can't wave your hand over the screen when the phone is off to have it show you the notifications. You do get notifications on the lockscreen though. They look the same as they do in the notification tray. So instead of of tapping on the icon to get a look at the notification, you get what you get in the notification tray. It does the job, but it's not executed as well as the Motos. For me, it's just an adjustment I will have to make, but I have no problem with it.

Thanks for the clear explanation.

I will start off that I am coming from the iPhone 6S Plus. I have only been using the Pixel XL just since last night. So far I am happy I made the switch. I think most of my small complaints are just getting use to Android again. So really they are less complaints and more just relearning the OS. My last Android phone was a Motorola Droid Maxx.

I miss the raise to wake function of iOS10. If I can do that with this phone then someone please let me know how to do that. The vibration for notifications is weaker than my iPhone but not a major issue. The last thing is there is no way to wake the phone if it's just sitting on the desk. Not a big issue but just something to get use to.

By and large I really love the phone and am happy to be back with Android again. It was worth the expense for me. And things like waterproofing and SD card slots don't matter for me. I've never had them in a phone and have never missed those features. I'm sure there will be other things that will take some getting use to but that's it for now.

If i had to pick a negative, It would be active notifications like moto has. That's it though. This phone is a Home Run!

I've only been using the phone for about an hour or more, and I'm still setting things up. I love it so far, it's fast and fluid with the exception of the app drawer for some reason The one thing they seem to refuse to include is the battery percentage being enabled by default. I know it can be enabled for those who know how, but it's becoming stupid IMO for them to keep excluded this by default.

I concur about the speakers. With the amount of bezel on this phone it makes no sense to not include dual front-facing speakers.

Another thing is something covered in another thread, is the new permanent weather widget on the new launcher. I really like it and it's a neat idea, but it may not work immediately by default, and there are things you have to do to enable it. Hear is a link to the subject that goes into more detail and helps: http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-pixel-pixel-xl/736997-pro-tip-stock-launcher.html

That's all for now. I have to find out it I can connect multiple bluetooth devices at once, like the Note 7, Iphone 7 plus, and other flagships phones Google is trying to compete with. Right now I don't expect it to work, since it's not registering in their skulls to add a simple battery percentage.

I still love the phone so far, having said all that.

I can successfully connect my fitness tracker and my car bluetooth at the same time, I dont know whether or not you are looking for something like that or two different headsets/BT speakers. If you are looking for the latter you may not be able to, I couldn't with the 6p. Havent tried with the pixel yet.

It's mainly a headset and the car at the same time. I know my Moto 360 will to it, but all phones will do that to my knowledge, concerning wearables.

Love the phone, but don't like that Ambient Display took a step backward in my opinion. Ambient doesn't activate when you pick up the phone anymore. So Pixel loses this feature. I had Nougat on my Nexus 6 and this function was still there. Not sure why it was deleted for the Pixel.

I've had every nexus under the sun, and I'm a huge android fanboy since inception... However, I was totally turned off by the fact that Google was charging a 10th generation, polished iPhone 7 price for a first generation, guinea pig device. That makes no sense to me.

I just picked up a 256GB iPhone 7 Plus.... I'm curious to see how I like it.

Let us know what you think.

I can confirm that two phone-talking bluetooth devices cannot connect simultaneously, meaning a bluetooth headset and car bluetooth system. You have to turn off the headset prior to connecting to the car or it will not connect. This is something Android can do, because LG & Samsung phones do allow this. Of course the iphone also allows this. The Pixel is a fast fluid device, that runs Google services flawlessly, but I feel like if they want to step up to the level of flagship-phone status, they must play attention to these small convenient details users may like.

Thats too bad. I assume LG and samsung add something on top of stock android to allow this, as I know this wasn't possible on the 6p either. I would imagine for most users this isnt that big of an issue, but understandably inconvenient for those that it is.

Yeah, it really is a small thing, but it's nice when it allows this. Sometime I forget to switch my headset off, and will be halfway down the road before I remember, or even worse, receive a call while driving and it doesn't come over my car's system because the headset is on. I know I can still answer from the headset, but using the car's system is more safer IMO.

They're getting there, because they've added a few things like having different lockscreen wallpapers, and multi-window so maybe they will add this feature in the future.

I agree and if I am unable to get my 128GB phone for another month, guess what I will have to try the 7+ myself. I did not think I would ever say that but you can not deny it might be a pretty good phone.

Still I will have to wait a few weeks to get a 7+ as well. I am living on a refuge phone after two Note 7 failures.

So I've had the phone for about an hour now. Coming from a nexus 6p I am missing the stereo speakers some.

Volume on the pixel is more than adequate. But when watching a video in landscape the audio is noticeably to one side. The stereo speakers at least helped to make the audio sound as if it was coming from the center of the screen.

Theres nothing denying the iP7 is a good phone, the question is more about iOS and whether or not you can pull yourself out of the android ecosystem and plant into iOS's If you use a lot of Google's services now you should prepare for a rude awakening when many of them arent available to you (at least not as easily) on the iPhone.

As far as Price, it is a Gen 1 phone by name only. Plenty of Nexus phones came before it and Google has had plenty of time to work out its mobile offerings. I guess they got complete build control this time around too, but they are certainly not new to cell phones.

I really like the device and I'm keeping it until the next Note comes out, but so far here are the things I either don't like.. or need to get used to....

1. Fingerprint sensor on the back is taking some time to get used to. I hate having to lift up the phone from my desk to unlock it. It's now an ordeal to unlock it. #firstworldproblems

2. By itself it is a nice enough looking device, sitting next to my Note 7, it is extremely unattractive... so is the iPhone.. so is every other device ever created. :)

3. So far Bluetooth does not seem to want to be a phone when paired to my 2016 Honda Pilot. It will stream music, but will not acknowledge text or phone calls.

4. No stylus
