Some people are trying but it looks like it's going to require root so it can be pushed and permissions set. No sideload option so far.

Must install apps for ANY phone:

SwiftKey - best keyboard period. If you disagree, your opinion is wrong.
App Swap - quick app switching no matter what app you're currently in.
Action Launcher 3 - my current favorite launcher after switching from Nova.
Navbar Apps - changes navigation bar background color based on what app you're using
MacroDroid - better than Smart Settings and so much more powerful. It's like Tasker for Dummies.
Pulse Messenger - cool SMS replacement. I like that you can pin conversations
LG Calculator - because it's better than the Google calculator
DigiCal - calendar of choice
TickTick - to do list app
Solid Explorer - best file manager

Pale Moon - my main browser.
Firefox - my backup browser.
Samsung Health - LG's health app sucks because it offers no option to share results.
Pandora - music on the go.
Transparent Clock and Weather - the best weather widget there is.
Solid File Explorer - great replacement for the native app, which doesn't allow switching between internal and external storage.
Universal Password Manager - stores passwords in a secure database. Easy backup for switching devices.
QuickPic - has gotten spammy, but still functions well.
Dictionary.com - word of the day widget!
Google Keep - what Evernote wishes it were!
MediSafe - keep track and remind of meds.
GoodRx - get discounts on expensive Rx.
Wallpaper Changer - changes wallpapers at set intervals.
Nova Launcher - customizes the phone's look.

For gesture typing, Swype is probably better. Gesture typing on SwiftKey works very poorly, in my experience. However, I feel that SwiftKey is unmatched with standard tap typing.
