What case for your Nexus S 4G?

I bought the Incipio Feather Case off Ebay, Cell Power, running up to $22 delivered. I went Teal for fun, it is a muted, nice color that will look great with screen savers, more muted than picture.

I have full body Zagg (was afraid I would drop and added a little grip). This fits so tight it pulled a corner, so not made to take off and on at whim like a lose case.

Fits perfect = mine was labeled Google Nexus S so look for these - zero cut out issues,

I just ordered the Incipio Feather Case in Teal, really wanted the red but Cellpower was sold out, using the 10off code from earlier in the thread. Should get it later this week and my phone at the end of next week. Judging by previous posts I shouldn't have any trouble with it fitting.

I really wanted a case that I could slip the phone into similar to the cases the blackberry's come with but so far I haven't been able to locate one yet.:)

Using a Case Logic Sideways pouch, it's a huge pouch which can fit even an EVO in a soft or hard silicon case. I'm using the hard case without the holster that Sprint sells. It fits in the pouch perfectly and is nice and tough for any bumps and bruises that may occur, yet is light enough to keep me from feeling like I'm lugging a brick around. I put this Case Logic thru it's paces already with my evo, so it's nice and opened up for this type of situation. I know it sounds like a pain, but double protection from me and I don't like to carry phones in my pocket due to other things like keys and extra batteries...they always scratch my screens that way. I'm not a screen protector person because any of them I've used on phones in the past hinder my contact with the touchscreen in someway.

I've been using the Seidio Surface case since I first got my Nexus. It's slim and simple. I use it in combination with the Surface holster. I used the same combo for my Hero for over a year and it was fantastic.

Prior to ordering, I contacted Seidio to ask if the case would work on the 4G. They said it would, and they were right. Fits great, no issues at all.

Just got my Incipio feather case and Seidio Active X case (couldn't decide between the two). I am very happy with both of them. Love the feel of both too, soft and smooth to the touch. Currently have the Seidio case on; I got the blue one, so it adds a little bit of color. I haven't really noticed it lifting in the corners once the outer shell is on like others have noted.

I just ordered my nexus and I'm torn between the ringke and the feather. I'd had my mind made up on the feather but started feeling like the rinkge might give a little better protection from scratches (as it pretty much covers the whole device. My sticking point is that i hate hate HATE any extra bulkiness from cases, which is why I was considering the feather in the first place. I guess I could get a zagg to go under the feather (and on the exposed bits) but's starting to get expensive.

DesertSilver: How are you liking your ringke? How much bulk does it add? Does it fit pretty well?

KoukiFC3S (and others with the feather): How's your feather? Have you gotten any scratches on the exposed parts of the nexus?

Thanks for any input you guys can give me.

I have the feather and really like it. Definitely adds some protection to the back and sides with very minimal bulk. I haven't gotten any scratches on the top or bottom but they are exposed so that is a concern of mine but I just love the form factor and style of this phone and the feather is great in that it is so minimal.

I prefer to use the NS4G without a case but, like others said, the phone is pretty slippery. I'm very happy with the Ringke. It fits absolutely perfect; the cutouts are precise, fits snug. But as far as helping with the slippery-ness, it's a rubber material but is still slippery, which may sound strange. I think they picked this material so it doesn't attract dust and make it difficult to put in and out of pocket, but I'm happy with it.

Looking up the specs on the manufacturers websites, the Ringke shows it's 1.2mm thick, compared to "less than 1mm" for the Feather. When you're talking tenths of a millimeter, it seems pretty insignificant. So I'd say you just need to pick style/functionality.

Thanks for the responses. I think I've decided to go with the ringke. I like the look of the feather but the exposed areas scare me and I'd like to keep the nexus in good condition so I can sell it when the rumored sprint nexus 3 comes out :p

Can those of you who ordered the Incipio Feather in teal please post some pics? I'd like to see a real world view of the color as it looks very pearlized on the Incipio site.

I'm torn between the Incipio and the Rearth Ringke in Sky Blue. Any pics of either would be appreciated.

This is what I use and it works wonderfully. How can you beat a very stylish case, 6 screen protectors, and a stylus for just under $6 and if you have Amazon Prime its free shipping! The screen protectors are crap but they do the job and I was really really really surprised the stylus actually works and it really speaks volumes about the capacitive screen quality on the Nexus S because the screens on the Droid, Archos 70, and evo shift have trouble picking it up.

So i ordered my Trident Cyclops case a while ago and it finally came in the mail today. I've used it for a couple hours now and I've officially formed an opinion having put it in my pocket, used it for texting, calling, yadda yadda.

Whats in the box: The hard plastic case which has a screen protector built into the front. The rubber jacket which slips around the outside of the hard plastic case once installed. A 3.5mm headphone jack extender (you'll see why this is necessary shortly). And a little tiny screen protector for your camera on the back of the phone ... yes ... they got that detailed.

Installation: Took about 60 seconds. Very easy and intuitive.
1) Clean camera screen and apply protector.
2) Remove screen protector protector (that thin film sticker on screen protectors) from inside of the case
3) Snap hard plastic case around phone
4) Apply rubber housing around the outside edges of the hard plastic case. Think of this rubber outside as an iphone 4 bumper.

Impressions:
1) I'm not sure I've ever saw a case that would protect my phone so well. I honestly feel like this case would take a bullet for my phone  but....

2) The case is so bulky, it takes away from the pleasure of owning such a slim nice phone. A co-worker of mine made the following comment "That case looks great except it's expanded the dimensions of your phone about a foot in every direction". Even carrying it in my pocket has become significantly more noticeable.
P.S. This is why it comes with an extended 3.5mm headphone jack. The case is so thick the male jack on your headphones might not work so it was nice of them to include the extender. If your curious, my skullcandy headphones did not require the extended jack to work.

3) You may notice i didn't say to apply the screen protector to the front of the phone. That's because it's a "bubble free" screen protector and is actually attached inside the case. You don't apply it directly to your phone. At first i thought it was going to feel like using a resistive touchscreen again. In reality, it's nice and clear and works quite well without distorting the image or making me feel weird typing on it. The case is so well formed to the phone that there is literally no gap between the screen and the screen protector. Surprisingly, it feels "normal" to use it.

It's not all sunshine and bubblegum though. The screen protector seems to be completely void of any grease/finger print resistive material. Every single touch or swipe leaves no wonder what part of the screen you've used.

4) This case has rubber covers which plug the 3.5mm headphone jack port and the micro USB port. These are quickly realized as being a real PITA to open. It takes me 5+ tries each time before i can get them open. I decided to run a quick experiment and handed the phone to a co-worker and asked him to open the headphone cover ... 7 tries later the headphone cover was open. Next i asked a female co-worker with nails to try ... 1 shot 1 kill she opened it the first try.

Final Thought: If you are in an line of work which is prone to phone breaking, such as the construction industry, or are just generally hard on phones, this is the case for you. At $30, it's the best protection I think you'll get for a cell phone. I truly am impressed with it and would have no problem recommending it to any parent that does not feel like paying the deductible to replace their skateboarding son/daughters broken Nexus. If you are the office type and usually keep your phone nicely tucked in your pants pocket, this might not be the one for you. The bulk, that same bulk that adds the amazing protection to it, also fills up a pocket quickly. I kept it in my suit jacket pocket for a while and found that to be much more comfortable than the pants pocket method. The problem is, i don't always wear a jacket and then the phone would be relegated to my pants pocket.

Nobody can tell you what is perfect for you, that's something you need to decide on your own. But when discussing cell phone cases you need to consider the level of protection, the quality of the case, and the cost. If you need the level of protection and quality to be high, while maintaining a reasonable cost, i would suggest you at least consider the cyclops.

Too bad it add so much bulk. Aside from the great protection aspect, I really like the looks of the case (especially the black/yellow combo). I didn't even know these were available for the NS4G, though. I've seen them for other phones but didn't see them when looking on resellers websites...didn't think of manufacturer's website (DOH!). Oh well, I'm very happy with my Seidio Active. Thanks for the great review!

One more thing...the Cyclops? Are you guys kidding me?! What is the point of buying this beautiful phone and hiding it behind some bulky UGLY case?

Thats is like buying a Corvette, and always keeping it in the garage....I just dont get it. The case I have is slick, slim, sexy AND it protects it just as well or better than some $30+ cases. Yet I paid $6!

Just got the feather case...just what I wanted. A keeper.

Nice ...but what happens if you end up dropping it on top or bottom? Lets just hope that doesn't happen. Still though if it add grip then you should be ok.
