What to do about a broken SIM card reader ON Galaxy S5

My phone all of a sudden began not picking up my SIM card. I tested it to make sure the SIM card wasn't broken by putting in a card I knew worked and it still didn't read so I am certain it is the reader. I have no idea how to get this fixed. Is there anyway I can have that individual piece fixed or do I have to get a new phone because I have had this one for about three months and I haven't even dropped it. Would be a waste to be that careful with a phone and have to buy a new one.

Welcome to AC.

If you bought it new, that ought to be covered by the warranty.

Also, the fault would need expert diagnosis. I understand very little about how phones work, but I don't know that what you describe means that the fault necessarily lies with the SIM tray or reader.

Still plenty of warranty. DO NOT try to fix it yourself or you will void your warranty. Call your carrier or Samsung for guidance.
