What do I do to fix my phone?

So one night I was on my phone, I noticed a weird smell for a while. Later I realised that it was my phone! There was a burning-metal smell coming from the charging port. The metal part of the charger was EXTREMELY hot.
Anyway,my phone was still working but it wouldn't charge. So its run out of battery and now I cant use it at all.

So I need some advice on what to do with my phone now!

Its a new charger? My LG charger smells like burning plastic first times.

I would try a new block as well as a new cable.

ouch. The easiest thing to do is test with different data cable and if that fails then its the data port on the phone. Those are not fun to replace on the M8 due to its unibody construction. Start calling local repair shops and see what they will charge to fix it.

With as many reports of bad charging ports coming out as I've seen, that's my suspicion. My guess is something shorted out inside the phone. You could try new chargers and cables, but I have a feeling those won't work in this case.

When my second M8 went bad, the local shop couldn't replace the port. I just cut my losses and upgraded.
