I want to give my Dinc to my wife when the X comes out. However she can't use the keyboard with her fingernails.
So what do women do who have fingernails that keeps their fingers off the screen?

Capacitive screens DO work with the tips of fingernails, if that's how she types.

Edit: Maybe not. ;)

Two options: Use a different kind of phone or cut the nails.

Wasn't designed with her in mind I guess. I tried it with my much shorter nails and it worked. I guess my skin was close enough to the screen to register without actually touching and I thought my nail was doing the work.

Sorry.

Unless her nails are very long, she should be able to simply touch with a lower angle. So she'd touch more with the underside of her fingers, rather than the tip.

Sorry guys!! I totally disagree with all of you.

As a professional woman who has been wearing acrylic nails for 20 years, I loved my Treos and Centros over the years due to the resistive touchscreen. I was also very hesitant to use a capacitive touchscreen device. Until a friend showed me how to use Swype on his HD2. In no time I flying on that keyboard!

I am now the proud owner of an Evo. Just try Swype... you'll be amazed!

Change the angle of the finger touching the screen. Or use a capacitive-compatible stylus.

Get an Android phone with a keyboard? My wife played with all the phones at the Verizon store before deciding on the Devour because she liked the keyboard the most.

You can use them. I can use the EVO and the hero just fine and I have long nails. You just have to use the pads of your thumbs instead of the tips of your thumbs. Takes a little getting used to but it is pretty easy.

Nice advice.
