I've unlocked the XPE and installed Xposed with Gravity Box, so I've fixed some of the missing features. Shame to have to go to the lengths for something that could be supported out of the box.

I can think of several things I don't like or miss from my previous G4 and Note 4 and most of these are software related.

1- The notification shade and quick settings is huge and can't be adjusted. I'm used to being able to add or remove quick settings and having a Mute/Vibrate/Sound option up there and they only take a single line, then you scroll left and right.

2- I can't change ANYTHING on my lock screen, not even the bloody wallpaper. It constantly matches my primary wallpaper.

3- I can't display my remaining battery % in the notification area.

4- After selecting a notification, it still remains there unless I hit the "clear all" icon. Other phones, one you select a notification, it takes you to that app and the notification disappears. (I suspect this is a bug)

5- Only hardware gripe, I wish the power and volume buttons were higher up on that side, I constantly hit them accidentally. (I'll admit though, I just came from a G4, so I loved the buttons on the back design)

6- I also found that that Recent Apps menu doesn't have a "Clear All" feature to kill all running apps. (I've also used Xposed+Gravity Box to fix this.)

...but probably won't. Nexus devices have historically had terrible camera software and I expect the same here. Also, remember HTC's UltraPixel?

What was wrong with ultrapixel? Before my camera hardware died a heat death it took great pictures. My wife's M7 is still kicking strong. My MPXE is higher resolution, but her pictures definitely have a better quality to them.

The one thing I absolutely hate is that my ringer volume randomly drops to zero and I can't change it without restarting. I tried using tasker profiles for both home and work, for the ringer volume, and it gets overridden.

There's a few things that I'm not crazy about. No battery % indicator, was a huge PITA to get activated on Verizon. I tried using tasker profiles for both home and work, for the ringer volume, and it gets overridden.

I used the Battery Percent Enabler app that just flips the flag in lollipop to show the Percent.

I blame this one on Google, not Moto as that's a Android thing.

It's about quality not quantity. Megapixels is no clear indication of picture quality. The Nexus 6P has a larger sensor. That alone "should" translate into better low light shots.

The nexi will always have open source drivers and image processing on their cameras. The nexi will always be at a deficit to any company that puts even modest investment into their camera software.

That happened to me the other day, was really trying to figure out what the heck I had done wrong, but the ringer came back when I restarted. At least now I know that it probably wasn't anything I did, hopefully this is a bug that gets fixed at some point soon.

No led, moto display, lock screen

No led makes this phone useless. The moto display needs lots of work. It works when it wants to but more often it won't ever show up. The stock lock screen is bad. Swiping half way up the screen opens the camera instead of unlocking. If I wanted the camera I'd touch the camera icon then swipe.

Other than these 3 things this phone is great maybe the best phone I've ever had but without then simple led that costs about a penny I have to return it.

It is more ironic since has an LED already. Moto just wants folks to use a feature (per Moto) that was intended for OLED tech.

My battery life is significantly better with that and the eye sensors turned off. Moto should add the LED as an option and a setting option to use active display only when charging (AC and USB).

What do you NOT like about the Moto X Pure Edition?

My final not likes summary after two weeks:

1. Fixed battery.
2. No LED option for notifications. No OLED tech, so why not the LED option to save battery? The device has one.
3. No option to only use active display and Moto Voice if charging only. Both drain the battery more that expected. 20% battery life saved with those features off.
4. No throttle options for chipset. The GPU is a battery draining demon with GPU heavy apps. This would help out a LOT for heavier users.
5. The missing 4GB of storage on the "64GB" model. 4GB less free than the bloated 64GB Note 5. The 64GB Pure should be dubbed "60GB" model.

Yep, some have stated the Pure would not be true vanilla Android, but I think the Moto apps collectively have done breached that position. Seriously though, where is the missing 4GB? Moto apps are nowhere near that much storage.

Not the same thing. Samsung version throttles the chipset and the display some and that is it.

Two of my Not likes though are scratched out:

1. There is an immersive mode app that forces full screen and no root required. it is called "Fulscrn". I bought full version after testing out the free one.
2. I have found a few chargers that are not slow charging.

Use a "Quick Charge 2.0" charger. In addition, I've noticed that when using a charger that uses a usb cable (as opposed to a cable hardwired into the charger), the specific cable used affects the speed of the charger. (I bought some Anker PowerLine Micro USB (10ft) cables and they seem to work well.)

Well that's what I'm trying to avoid, which is why I'm so interested in this thread.

I'm glad you like yours, but all the main complaints are about the things that are most important to me: size, notifications, and battery. After being spoiled by all-day-every-day battery life, I can never go back to being tied to a charger (my 2-1/2 year-old Razr Maxx HD still has better battery life than the very best reports I've seen on the Moto X).

Regarding the size, that's one of the best things about the phone IMHO. I love the big screen, especially since the phone is designed so that it doesn't feel too big to me. I have an Incipio Octane case and the phone fits in my shirt pocket no problem.

Regarding battery life, I wish it lasted a week on a charge, but the actual life is ok. I'm using the phone a lot since I just got it and it still lasts pretty much all day. One thing most people aren't mentioning is the fact that the fast charge feature of the phone really makes up for any perceived battery life problem for me. I have a quick charge 2.0 charger for my car and the charger that came with the phone at home. Both chargers charge the battery back up really fast.

Regarding the LED, it seems like a no-brainer for me that Motorola should give an option to enable it, but I've just gotten into the habit of waving my hand in front of the phone to see if I have any messages if I've been away from it for a while.

Let me preface this with the comment that I love this phone. That being said, here is my list of things I don't like:

1. The way the sound ramps up on rings and notifications drives me nuts. I finally found an app that fixes the problem, but it annoys me that I have to run the app continously to get rid of the volume ramp up. (Motorola claims it is a safety feature and so will not provide an option to disable the volume ramp-up.)
2. I didn't like the original keyboard, so I replaced it with Swiftkey.
3. I came from a HTC phone and the sound quality was much better on it, both over speakers and headphones. I use PowerAmp for music and the equalizer in it helps if I'm listening to music on the phone.
4. I hated the default Google Now Launcher that came on the phone. I switched to Apex Launcher and I'm much happier with it. I noticed a lot of other people were indicating that they had switched to Nova Launcher.
5. I wish Motorola had supplied a quick charge 2.0 car charger instead of the awful hard plastic case bumper that came with the phone.

Out of box the 64gb Note 5 has 52GB vs 48GB on the Pure. You would expect the opposite if anything.

I'm coming from a 2013 Moto X (personal) and Galaxy S6 (work)

My rubber back is actually quite smooth and slippery to me. I don't feel comfortable going without a case on this. For now I'm just using the stock bumper.

The IPS display looks great, but I do prefer AMOLED. It pains me to see the entire screen light up at night when my active notifications go on. Of couse during the day I can't see this, but I know it's there and doing it. I wouldn't care so much if I was able to get a whole day on this. It's still too early for me to make a final judgement on battery, but for now I'm skeptical about getting a full day on it. I have to confess that I do play a lot of Clash, but still not getting a lot of OST (2.5 hrs). For some reason Google Play Services has been the top user of my battery. Perhaps this is related to playing Clash -- switching between multiple accounts.

The earpiece volume on max is too low. I can't hear when I'm out and about where there is a lot of external noise. This isn't a problem with my 2013 Moto X or the S5.

Camera is much improved, but the Nexus 6P camera is giving me cause to seriously consider changing to that one -- picture quality is very important to me.

I'm still getting used to the top heavy weighting on this phone.

Otherwise I really like this phone, but may switch to the Nexus 6p for AMOLED and Camera. I will miss the moto active notifications and gestures.

Have no fear, Ambient Display on the Nexus 6p should act very similarly to moto display! Apparently you are able to wave your hand over the sensor to wake it.

In what way? Like economics, the truth is in the margins. The Pure has 4GB less storage free to the user.
