What do you NOT like about your Nexus 5X?

The lag is still an issue for me - I end up needing to restart the phone almost daily. It's very frustrating.

I wonder whether this would be better if there was more RAM on board.

I'm just curious. When I go to bed at night, I turn my phone off. When I get up in the morning I turn it on. Why do you leave the phone on all night?

The front of the phone is ugly, bezels too big. No SD card, but besides that it's good, much faster than a skinned version like g4 which has lag.

Probably should have gotten the 6p.

Lag and honestly size. I bought it since I wanted a phone that was a bit smaller than my X Pure. Well the size is near identical in actual use even though the screen is much smaller. I also have annoying lag when opening apps. I use Verizon Messages+ and on the Moto the opening is instant. On the 5x it always lags, sometimes several seconds which is beyond annoying. Same with opening the camera and some other apps I use. I just notice it texting the most since I use that app more.

I thought my Moto was getting laggy so I recently switched back to the 5x and my 5x is much slower after just one day of moderate use.

Most people these days use their phone as not just a phone. Mine is my alarm clock and main phone line as I have no home phone, so for these reasons I cannot have it off at night. Also even if it was just my phone I still probably wouldn't be bothered to turn it off every night.

Thanks. I don't use my cellular as a phone at all. I'm mostly deaf. I use it for messaging, appointments, lists, dictionaries, and other things I don't need at night. I spent thirty years being on call at night and one of my joys of not working is no phone at night.

I do have a landline but only because I can't get DSL internet service without it. I don't have a television and cable is not an option and I've had no good reports from folks with satellite service.

The lag is really bad on mine as well. So frustrating have to restart the phone so many times per day. Wanted to keep this phone for two years but not sure if getting more RAM would help with this issue.

Yeah, it's not nearly as bad as my Galaxy S5 it replaced, but it's definitely there.

I don't like the big bezels, and I don't like the volume buttons so low on the side. I'm always adjusting them when I grab the phone and use the fingerprint scanner.

I don't care about the lack of an SD card. I just learn to not go crazy on storage since it's just a phone, not my main system. 32gb is plenty for me. SD cards are not as useful as they are made out to be. They are slow, and if you move Apps over it only really moves PARTS of the apps over. You can save images to it, but most of the imsages I have are auto saved to google photos so I don't care about that anymore. Vudu was nice to save movies to it, but I NEVER watch movies on my phone. Youtube maybe, but I usually try to get on my iPad (only apple device I like). I havn't been able to try the new feature with marshmwllow to merge the Sd card into android storage. That would be neat, but SD cards are riddled with issues. I have used them a lot over the years, so I am happy to get away from them.

I plan to upgrade as well mainly just for more ram. My LG G2 only had 2gb and lagged often when you had a lot of apps open even on marshmallow. Factory resetting the phone, however, put it back to being quick all the time. I think it is app related. Try removing message history if you keep all your text messages. I noticed the messenger app lagged bad. And maybe look over apps to see if there are any you don't want anymore. I'm pretty sure it isn't the phones fault by design, but some app hogging ram, especially since my 5x I just got is quick on almost everything. Very little lag right now, but I havn't used it very long. Just a few days.

This is possibly the best thread for me, I'm currently really interested in purchasing one for school work. i love the look of it a lot but nice to see what people dislike about it so i can make an informed decision in November this year :D

I use mine for work and play. I'm really satisfied. But I'm running the BlackBerry launcher and the BlackBerry Hub. This has made me quite productive. Plus the BlackBerry keyboard as you can see in the screenshot. Great phone.

Being deaf, have you considered a smart watch? The Pebble is cheap. I love mine. I work with someone that's deaf and the vibration of it for notifications and alarms is jarring. Might be great for you.

For those with lag issues, what version are you running?

I have a 5X that I've loaded DP5 on and it's been running like a finely tuned piece of machinery... Even after extended uptimes.

Thanks for the suggestion and the thought. I downloaded LOUD ringtones for alarms and text messages. I normally don't have to look at alarms. I tend to get involved in things and the alarm just brings my appointment to mind.

I might get a smart watch in January. That's when my sister visits Mexico and can bring me stuff. Smart watches here are at least one generation being the U.S. and twice the price. Things are expensive here but services are cheap.

How is your battery life? My battery is abysmal, and this phone is laggy garbage. I honestly regret this phone, for the first time I have ever regretted a Nexus phone. I hate this phone.

Battery life is pretty good... I use it as my DD from time to time and while it's not as good as my 6P, it's not that far off either.

The only place I see some performance issues is the speed of the camera vs the 6P... The rest of the time, it runs great.

I'd love to get my hands on one of the 5Xs that's a laggy mess for people.. get under the hood and figure out what's what. I mean, I know you and others aren't making it up, but I certainly haven't seen the problems.

I have been taking photos in .DNG+JPEG and there is a noticeable wait between shots. I don't know that I'd blame the phone for that.

My wife is currently using my old Nexus 6 and it's time for a new phone. Will the 5X feel like a downgrade to her? She uses Facebook and texts all day.

If she loves the massive screen then yes. If she wants a better camera then no. It's all about priorities!

Can't see any reason she would be disappointed with a 6p though!

I don't think she would either. I have one and

1. I'm trying to justify whether it's worth the extra money for a 6P for her.
2. I really don't want her phone to look just like mine so she doesn't start futzing with mine.

She has dropped the 6 countless times so durability is an issue, as is size but they they are both smaller than the 6. We use Project Fi so it had to be one of the two.
