What do you think of whatever Apple announced?

I was pretty underwhelmed by the 6S and 6S+ but I'm willing to see how they do in user hands before I pass final judgement. Sadly any actual Apple user communities out there are generally useless for finding answers because they're all on break from being cast extras on The Walking Dead.

Main points:

1. My main interest in an iPhone was originally camera during the 5, 5s generation but now several Android OEM's have surpassed iPhone
2. Instant updates aren't as attractive anymore since year after year Android running one version behind has proven a far more capable OS for numerous tasks than a current version of iOS and that hasn't changed this time around either.
3. While Android still has it's occasional stutter, it's smoothed out enough nowadays that the difference is negligible. The better you get at picking a well optimized brand to buy, the better the experience you have is.
4. Community support. The number and quality of Android communities and blogs is better than Apple sites by leaps and bounds in terms of knowledge, quality of members, and professionalism of staff. Android Central, XDA Developers, Phandroid, Android Authority and many others I haven't named provide a much better community experience than you will find at any currently popular Apple fan sites, of which there are really only a couple worth noting.
5. Really the only thing worth noticing about the 6S is "3d touch". I watched the entire keynote with a sense that more would be announced. When it wasn't my reaction was "okaaay...? And....?" except there was no "and". And 3d touch IMO is a very minor and forgettable feature, much like notification panel "widgets" and sketchy 3rd party keyboards was last year. Disappointing.

It was a weird announcement really, to anyone that had been paying attention to rumours it was almost completely unsurprising. But almost everything was typical Apple, borrowed ideas implemented very slickly and using clear language that most consumers will both understand and remember.

iOS 9 isn't particularly impressing me so far. Noticeably slower on an iPhone 6 which is just ridiculous and I honestly don't see why the much vaunted force touch is supposedly any better than just doing those actions with a long press. For games maybe, context sensitive actions in the same time I can see the usefulness, bug other than than needless complexity and extra hardware for the sake of it.
Maybe because long press is already a function to move apps around or delete.

This is an "s" update. Most people know "s" updates are mostly under the hood. What did the Note 5 improve on the Note 4? Sealed battery and no SD card slot? They removed some S-Pen features. You're acting like Android has some revolutionary upgrades every year. They all do incremental upgrades. Apple and Google.

No, my point is that android allows you to do so much more than iOS that it's going to take a lot more than incremental updates by Apple regardless of being an S update or not

There are many people who hate or love Apple. I'm not any of them.

I don't buy they products because I think at these prices there are better alternatives. On the other hand, I think they are quite pretty and easy to operate.
Many years ago Apple products were innovative but now they do not differ much from the competition.
One think I don't like in Apple in these days: They bring something generally known and call it "innovation".

They newest products are just "normal"(but little more expensive). Except Apple Pencil. This is abnormal expensive.

Apple Pencil is not much more expensive than an OEM Samsung Note S-Pen if you consider what tech is inside that Apple Pencil. It's targeted at a niche group (artist) and not for everyone which is why apple is selling it separately.

Well, it seems, to me, that Samsung is going backwards every year with their new flagships. My S4 has Car Mode which I love. My Note 5 no longer has that. Smart Stay on my Note 5 doesn't work as well as my S4. If they continue to remove features every year and Apple continues to add features, Apple will be ahead if this trend continues.

Screw Apple, and thier upidity expensive crap....

Why so insecure? Why does it upset you so much what other companies do? Do you say that about automobiles that are out of your price range if you even drive yet?

You have an excellent point right there. I bolded it.

Here's something I made that drives home your point. (Left to right)

I feel like it might be the beginning of the end. The Watch is first post-jobs product and from what I've heard, it's not very intuitive, something common of all previous apple products. But I do think they are still a money printing machine.

I can't but roll my eyes at Apple's criticism of Android for years. Now Apple has software fragmentation (iOS, TV OS, watchOS, OS), endless models of phones and tablets and smart watches at different price points, a goddamn stylus, massive screens, split-screen apps, and always-on voice recognition? I can't wait for Apple's circular, bezel-less Watch 2 *rolls eyes*

I don't (and can't) knock Apple for making great products that are marketable to wide audiences, but I never quite understood their infatuation with criticizing Android...especially when Android has driven Apple to so many of its new 'ideas.' I will, though, give credit where credit is due: Android definitely dropped the ball on fingerprint scanners and Apple definitely pushed them to add support.

I have a MB Pro Retina and it's amazing, and given the dearth of quality tablets in the Android market, I am starting to envy my friends and family with new iPads. But it also kind of pains me to see Android and Android OEMs get the short end of the stick when it comes to recognizing and appreciating innovation, especially when I would contend that Android OEMs are finally making great technology right out of the box.

And the split screen multitasking only works on the ipad pro and air 2. Shame

I'm not sure if my G4 uses OIS when stabilizing 4K video, but my sample videos seem to indicate that it does.

But when I comes to slow-mo, I agree. My friend's 2013 iPhone 5S takes MUCH BETTER slow-mos than my 2015 LG G4. There's just very little detail lost.

That's because unlike the iPhone, Android doesn't actually record in 120 or 240 fps. It just slows the video down to the equivalent framerate after you take it.

I would love 120/240 fps on Android. Is it just a software thing, or do the CCDs tend to be too slow to sustain that kind of a frame rate?

All things aside, we need more announcements from them. Every announcement from Apple can be material for spoof videos. If it is a good product, people enjoy it anyway. If not, it's still fun. Win-win situation :)

This is my opinion but I really don't see the new iPhone selling that well. I would think with apple now selling in China sales would be bigger.

The only thing that impressed me about the 6s was the improved fingerprint scanner and the new processor. But I don't do heavy gaming, so the processor doesn't matter to me. And I'm happy enough with the scanner on my 5s. On top of that, the regular 6s (64gb) would cost >1000$ with taxes off contract in Canada so it's definitely out of the picture...

I don't think much about anything Apple these days TBH.

The iphones are a clumsy excuse of a smartphone IMHO, the ipads are over rated and just too expensive to justify the price for them, same for their desktops and anything else that they come out with... and you can easily find a alternatives that works as well or better for less.

I own their products and still use them infrequently but really don't need to or want to.
