What do YOU use the S-pen for?

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

It clicked into place but has the slightest bit sticking out. Maybe a millimeter or two. Although as I look at it is see that it is where the phone curves. And since my case is only open on that side that is all I feel

If you mean it is sticking out a bit on the back side and outside edge of the phone, that is normal.

1. Scrolling screen capture.
2. Using the clicker to annoy people.
3. Scratching that itch deep in my ear. (OH MY GOD, THAT FEELS SO GOOD!!!)

I use it to create really stupid things like this image. I also am a big fan of writing my text messages instead of typing. I also keep myself a to do list.

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

I am self employed in the wholesale grocery business. Occasionally, I receive orders from restaurants by phone and jot them down as action memos. Also, and most importantly, vendors will call me with good deals and I note the item, price and other details. Some of these notes have resulted in my making some big sales - to such an extent that the profit from the sold items added up to several times the full cost of the Note 5. The great thing about those notes is that they would have been lost had they been on scraps of paper or even a note pad but in the phone it's easy to scan back through weeks of notes quickly and easily.

I had no idea when I purchased the Note 5 how useful these notes would be. In fact, I had planned to switch back to my Galaxy S5 until I got hooked on the Note 5's S Pen and other superb performance features. I can honestly say that as long as I am in business I will have to have a Note type device, they are simply too valuable.

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

This is probably a very niche case, but I am learning Japanese. I use it to write out kanji (Japanese characters). It's good writing practice, but sometimes it is also necessary to input a character into my offline dictionary if I don't know how to pronounce it or what it means. Doing this with my finger would be impossible and using the camera is not always possible as well.

I also use the pen to navigate non mobile friendly websites. Trying to click on those little links that are close together is some much nicer with the s-pen. I love it!!!!

Will a lot of you miss the Spen when you switch to the S7?

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

A device without an S Pen would be a "deal breaker" for me - No S Pen, No thank you.

Why would Note users switch to the S7? Most Note users would more likely switch to the Note 6. Many would possibly even hold out till the Note 7.

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

I have become a massive user of Scrapbook. (So much so that I just discovered that you're limited to creating 50 categories.) In any event, I use the S pen to stash everything I come across during the day, e.g. book and article excerpts, products I intend to buy, messages I want to preserve.

Expect I use the S pen for this purpose alone an average of 10 times a day. And I load the material on all of my devices via the cloud.

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

I really need to figure out how to use the s pen to its fullest. I watched a tutorial video but I am still not getting it all. I thought I was able to write on the screen while off (which worked) and later somehow turn it into text to be added elsewhere. Didn't have that wrong?? Thanks.

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

Screen size seems to be an issue too why many don't want to switch to the S7 due to the larger screen. I hate the Edge phones. hard to find decent protective cases for them and the edges are goofy.

I really wonder about how many Note 5 users fall into this category of not fully realizing the potential of the s pen. I know it included me. I get the feeling a lot of folks got it mainly for its size and specs.

Re: what do YOU use the s pen for?

I have used the S pen for a few of the things mentioned here (taking notes, easier screen capture, clicking links on non-mobile sites), but not very often. Being self-employed, I often take credit card payments using a card reader on my phone. The S pen has been wonderful to offer customers when they need to sign the screen. Every customer comments how much nicer it was to use the pen vs having to use their finger to sign. I bought my original Note (Note 2) for the screen size, the pen was a bonus, and what kept me to the Note series when I upgraded.
