OK, I carry a Photon, and have had ADW on for so long that I don't remember what the stock MotoBlur launcher was like. I have mentioned a new launcher to my wife, and she is concerned about underlying Sense functionality. with Nova on top, all underlying Sense is intact, correct? Also, what in your opinion makes Nova the best aftermarket launcher?
The only time I really see or notice stock Sense once Nova is in place:
1. The lock screen -- no getting around this (that I'm aware of) for now.
2. The various settings/options pages
3. The stock Sense applications (Phone, Mail, SMS, etc) -- I happen to really like these. You actually 'unlock' a couple apps like Car Mode and some Office suite that are disabled when using on ATT w/ Sense (both work). Car Mode is pretty nice!
Otherwise, things are really just as they were on my Nexus 4 running pure Jelly Bean 4.2.2. Honestly (said this in my review post), in a lot of ways I think the combination of Sense and a good launcher is better than pure 'stock'. HTC's experience shows... the stock applications (for my use and taste) are MUCH better than stock JB offerings. I'm completely happy with the built in dialer, mail (needed for Exchange support), SMS and calendar apps (no need for 3rd party). I run the Gmail app for my personal account.
Nova is just offers a lot of customization, I never have problems with it (no battery or CPU drain) and out of the few I've tried it just gets out of my way and works the way I'd expect it to. If I went with something else, it'd probably be Action Launcher as I really like the idea of it's new 'Shutters' feature. I really hope the Nova developers implement something like that. What keeps me from switching is no ability to change icons in Action Launcher (supposed to be coming soon) and the fact that Nova just works so well for me.
Hope that helps.
