what does My Places do?

i found the option under location services, and set up home, office, and car. i thought it would be something like llama or tasker where it could automatically silence the phone, launch handsfree mode, etc., but I havent figured out what it actually does. Anyone know?

Good Question - Search of user manual only turned up these two references::
Location services
Change settings for location information permissions.
• Access to my location: Set the device to allow applications to use your current location
information.
• Use GPS satellites: Set the device to use the GPS satellite for finding the current location.
• Use wireless networks: Set the device to allow location data collection or to determine
the location of your lost or stolen device via Wi-Fi.
• My places: Set up profiles that will be used for specific locations when you use GPS, Wi-Fi,
or Bluetooth features to find your current location

Hands-free mode
In hands-free mode, the device will read content aloud when you have incoming calls,
messages, and notifications so you can use the device without hands while driving. For
example, the device will read aloud the caller’s name or phone number when a call comes in.
To activate hands-free mode, say “Hands-free mode on” or tap → Turn on Hands-free
mode.
To activate hands free mode automatically in specific places, in hands-free mode, tap →
Connect to vehicle → Select method

Sorry to bump this old post up, but, as a new Samsung user, what exactly does this function do? Does someone know of a specific change that's made when I'm "home" or in the "car". I have home defined by WiFi and my car by bluetooth.

Did you find out? I think that's only good for future use. If you did define a location and named it home car or office then programmatically speaking one could develop an app that , when location is on could match location as home or car or office and trigger relevant device functionality or get from the cloud a relevant bit of information for example send driving music rather than lounging music for home. LMK what you find.....
