What happened to S beam??

Couldn't fine another posting about this. Came from the S3. Met a friend the other day with an S3 and we tried to hold the phones back to back to exchange some pictures and we couldn't. We used to using our S3's but now I can't with my S5.

What am I missing here?

Under settings - NFC - S Beam

Oh okay, I had toggled it on the home screen but didn't under settings. Says S beam is on when NFC is on. Still didn't work though with her phone.....secretly hoping it's her phone that's not working lol
