What happened to the DNA? I bought mine on day one thinking I was getting a cutting edge device that would have some really cool accessories! Boy was I wrong. Right out of the gate I started wondering if I made the right decision switching from my iPhone back to a Android Device. It doesn't even look like we DNAers will get Jelly Bean 4.2, my Nook with the N2A Card installed is running a more update version (4.1.2) then our DNAs! Go figure! While I really like my DNA and have it configured to handle just about everything...I am thinking of switching phones even at full price. This time to the Nokia Lumia 928...yes Windows! Thats right jumping into the Fire! :) Oh well we will see.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forums!

If you are going to switch phones at full price, why not look at the HTC One when Verizon gets it? Or the Galaxy S4?

That is an option...been out at wpcentral forums looking around and see there are a few issues popping up on the 928...so I'll see how that pans out.

You can't keep chasing version numbers. is 4.2.2 really going to bring anything all that different to the table. You have to enjoy what you have this phone has a beautiful screen good sounding speaker, I personally have had no issues with the SIM card or anything. The camera is nice shoots great video. Its not a nexus. I was reading somewhere the HTC said the j butterfly would be getting sence 5 and an update I think by the end of the month so I'm sure they are also working on ours. You will get board with wp its nice and smooth I have the 8x skydrive is trash compaired to Google's system. and how it uploads pics and videos. They always look really compressed on skydrive even at the max setting.anyways good luck with your decision.

Exactly, there isnt any mind blowing features in 4.2 compared to 4.1. Being on JB is more than enough for me since lets face it, they havent added anything huge since 4.1. I expect to see 4.2 to some degree with sense 5 and such eventually. If we were on ICS then yeah, Id be angry.

There's not really a big difference in the earlier 4.1 software and the update so that shouldn't be a biggie IMO. If I was to purchase a phone at full cost it wouldn't be a windows phone if your looking newest and coolest software, just my opinion. Good luck and hope you find something you like.

Hmm, I thought I read somewhere that the DNA would get jelly bean by end of summer...don't really care as I really like as is. I may have read it on droid life, not sure...someone else may chime in tho.

When is, or is, Verizon getting the HTC One?

There is no date nor an official announcment. Rumors are it will be after the end of summer, perhaps the fall.

I'm hoping they do. I'm torn between purchasing a DNA now, or waiting for a One. I've got to get rid of this Galaxy Nexus! When I worked for a Verizon dealer, our Verizon rep to us that they're getting the One. This was back in February or March. I'll say this though, he's not always reliable for information.

Looks like within a month.

Well said, and I'll add my 2 cents to this. I am running 4.2 on my Asus tablet, and as a result, I don't want it on my DNA. I don't want to bore everyone with all of the problems 4.2 caused, but I know I don't want to re-live the experience on my DNA. And as mclarryjr said, "There's not really a big difference in the earlier 4.1 software and the update so that shouldn't be a biggie IMO." Exactly.

I would not worry too much about it. The only issue I see with the DNA is that there is no way to root the phone since the 2.06 update. I know that a developer has successfully rooted the phone as of last week and we are waiting on him to release the method, but the lack of major developer support has left this phone in the dust. However, if you don't root your phone, the DNA stock Sense 4 UI is not bad at all.

If you can deal with crummy cell phone service through T-Mobile, you may want to consider going with a Nexus 4 so you can be on a pure android device without any of the carrier bloat and delays. Otherwise, Verizon is the way to go and the DNA will probably get the Sense 5 update.

I would recommend waiting so you can see if they come out with a variation of the HTC One.

I too thought about going with a Windows phone since I'm due for an upgrade on my third line my cuz uses (he ain't gettin' the new toy). Since I've grown fond of Windows 8, the Xbox One coming out, I figured maybe seeing if Windows will finally make it over their hump and go mainstream in the mobile world..... But I'd kick myself in the *** so hard if I burn an upgrade on the Windows phone and Verizon surprises us with something that blows our minds..... I love my DNA and have no issues is another factor for getting a Windows phone just to play with. I'd never use it for more than a few days at a time cause I love my DNA. I put Nova on there and there isn't anything that it can't do for me. Being in IT and being able to remote into my servers at work or edit videos of the kids without any issues on it's gorgeous screen...... I thought about getting Windows phone to play with.... but to replace the DNA?! Man, you're nuts!

I'm not playing the I have to keep up with the jones's game to be happy. I like my DNA and until something truly game changing and innovative comes out that I feel fits my needs better I'm keeping it.

I don't care what kind of phone you have, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence.

The DNA was released with jellybean out of the box...

From iPhone to Android and not sure you made the right choice?
That statement alone pretty much renders this entire post useless.
There are some destined for IOS..............enjoy.

Hey bud...while I totally understand your frustrations. I too am wondering if I made the right decision, even I did come to the DNA late. But let me tell you, WP8 is not the answer. I came to Android from WP8. I am a gadget fan and I switch them constantly, especially phones. But trust me that if you are already frustrated with Android, the Verizon WP8 flagship is not going to make it better for you. If you multi task, you will soon learn to live without it, the WPx impl?mentation is a joke at best. Updates? They still have to be approved by VZW.

As much as I hate saying this, if you must go with another phone other than Android, go back to iPhone. You will get all the latest updates and there are tons of accessories. But WP8 bud is not the answer, you will find yourself right back to where you started.

Thanks for the input...I think with today's announcement that the HTC One is indeed coming I'm going to wait and see what we get.
