What happens if you take the SIM out and put it in a phone? (VZW)

I'm curious, if you take the SIM out of the Gear S3 (Verizon) and put it in a phone, what happens? Do you get data access?

There is no Simcard in a gear s3. It's embedded onto the board. Called an e-sim.

If you could take the SIM out the phone would get data. I've got an old Galaxy Camera which is a connected device as well, I can put the SIM into my old Note 4 and it gets data, but no call/text.
