What, if anything, can be done if side buttons and charging port on Nexus 6 stop working?

My wife has a Nexus6 and the side buttons and charging port have stopped functioning. She says it will not charge while plugged in but the battery will not decrease while plugged in also. Is there an update for this or this a hardware problem. We purchased the phone in the begging of June 2017 online saying it was new. Have not had a reason to doubt that it was not new.

Sounds like a hardware problem. The charging problem maybe you can blame on the cable. Have you tried different cables?

The buttons usually don't stop suddenly working. Did the phone get damaged somehow?

Also, this isn't necessarily relevant, but I don't know where you get a new Nexus 6 in June 2017. Seems fishy.

I'm inclined to agree there is a hardware issue. And I highly doubt this device is new.
