As the title suggests.

It's currently Google's niche but could the model be successfully adopted by other manufacturers and serve a practical purpose with a financial reward?

What do you think?
 
Do they need to? The Pixel exists because Android gets tweaked and tinkered and butchered and re-Frankensteined by each manufacturer and model. Apple doesn't need to because iOS is pretty much the same across the board and they already control the entirety of it.

True, but there's the hardware side too don't forget..great way to take the pulse of the market before going full steam ahead on flagship device production.
Samsung might have been able to prevent or at least reduce the global nightmare of the note 7 if they had released limited numbers under the sponsorship of a beta program first..
