Android Central Question

Can anyone explain to me what the heck "IPS geofence" is doing on my android?? I have two phones, and it is only on one phone. Is it someone spying or tracking me?? I have had issues with a creepy landlord that had my house and devices bugged big time. To the point of cell phone jammers and geofence, and even cameras and speakers all thru my house. Please help.

Hi , where do you see this?
If your landlord shaddy like that should call the authority for invading privacy

IPS is Indoor Positioning System. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indoor_positioning_system

Geofencing is locating where you are geographically for, say, turning on WiFi as you get near home, or turning it off as you're driving away. (It can also be used to keep the phone unlocked when you're at home, but be careful - many geofencing apps can't be set to a smaller diameter than to include your entire property (about 50-100 feet), so if you leave (or drop) the phone in your front lawn, anyone grabbing it finds it unlocked, and can reset the lock screen to None. Then go home, reflash it, and you've lost your phone.

If the two are combined, that might make geopositioning actually workable.

But no, no one is spying on you or tracking you.

I just did my daily updates and in the Galaxy Store there was one update which was "lpsGeofence". Don't know what it is either.

well, when they force to push these kinds of apps to my phone I have to think with all this coronavirus crap going around how did they know how far apart people were in China? well, we know now and to the OP you are not paranoid they (china) are spying on you to keep your social distance during the coronavirus... I got into my phone via ADB and uninstalled this app and set Samsung's app store to never auto-update apps. I don't need this kind of crap pushing to my phone when I never asked for it or China always watching me! PSH forget you china, and to any of you who think it's not spying on you go into your apps and try to turn off the location permissions on this app... You won't be able to because it's greyed out AND you can't uninstall this app nor disable it all GREYED OUT... NO TY! FORGET YOU SAMSUNG!

They could unlock the phone but they couldn't change security settings without the pin or password.

So they could only use the device in that 100 foot radius.

I use my surround sound receiver to keep mine unlocked. It has enough range for my living room and kitchen and that's it. If I go outside..locked.

Damn.. I just Froze it with Titanium. But as mentioned above, Package Disabler Pro is just as good, however, Titanium allows you to Backup it before any 'forced' updates.

Good thread.
