what is "pointer speed" in language and input settings?

Like onslaiught260 said, it's to adjust the mouse speed. I've paired a Bluetooth mouse with my ASUS TF101 tablet.

It's the equivalent of pointer speed in Windows. It's also labeled as motion speed.

I couldn't figure out what use a mouse would be on a phone until I realized....

I paired a BT mouse to my phone and used it as a presentation mouse at a finance conference on Thursday. Plugged the S III into a TV using Samsung's MHL adapter along with the mouse. I was able to advance PowerPoint slides with the left mouse button and go back using the back button.

yeah id get wireless keyboard/mouse if had the money. defo gona get a MHL adaptor.. can i usn one of them with my 5m hdmi extension?

What app did you use for powerpoint?

I used an HDMI extension cable without issue. One things I dislike about the S III is the requirement of the MHL adapter. My HTC EVO 4G had a dedicated MicroHDMI port, so I didn't have to use a special adapter.

You are required to plug the MHL adapter in AND plug it into the charger, otherwise it will not work.

I've been using Quickoffice Pro HD for a few years and it's worked very well.

When I got the S III, I recall Samsung giving Smart Office 2 for free when downloaded from their own app store. What I like about Smart Office 2 it is that it reads PDF's, so I don't need another program just for that function.

I find Smart Office 2 play's nicer with Office 2007 and 2010. Some items from Office 2007/2010 did not translate well over to Quickoffice. Items misaligned, bullets not there, etc.

So far, Smart Office 2 has worked perfectly.

yeah my Xperia had hdmi out, loved it :)
is it true that it has to be a Samsung adaptor? they wired things un-universaly or somethin?

Yup. I tried a generic eBay unit without luck.

I purchased this from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0080CXSO...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU2128198

It works, but it's a PITA to have so many wires coming in and out of the phone to get the image displayed on the screen compared to my 2+ year old EVO.

I was demoing an app at a financial show yesterday, so it was nice to have it displayed on a large screen. Hanging my phone to people to try it out was so cumbersome with the MHL adapter, power adapter and full size HDMI cable dangling out of it. The cable disconnected many times as there is so much weight being placed on the MicroUSB adapter.

I should have posted this in the what don't you like about your S III thread. :)

I did also bring my EVO along and eventually used that to plug into the TV. One wire and done.

wow that is bulky... and expensive.. ill check out the price on amazon UK.. im guessing it has a "throuh" circuit so you can just plug the charger into it?
think il always love Sony (s/e). loved the hdmi output on my Xperia and the hardware in general. hope they make a Nexus (Sexus) ;)
is there any legit reasn why Sammy changed the wireing so a standard mhl-hdmi adaptor wouldnt work?
i also wish id added to the "what i dont like" thread lol :)

global s3, UK. Ask me anything and ill reply even if its just an intelligent (or crazy) guess ;)

Bulky? Not at all. Expensive? Yes, but it was a work expensive, so that wasn't of consideration for me. :)

Still miss my MicroHDMI output.

The quality is phenomenal (for a phone). I consider myself to be somewhat of a home theater snob.

I have a bunch of 1080p movies I've converted for use on the S III. Disney's Up, Avatar, etc. Films you use to wow people when demoing, your S III you know?

I've streamed wirelessly to my sister's Samsung LED and the picture and sound is phenomenal. Same goes with the HDMI cable.

No noticeable degradation in quality. If I played the same video from the S III side by side with the Blu-ray then you would notice the S III has a touch more compression.

Regardless of that fact, Netflix looks beautiful, Crackle looks decent, HD YouTube looks great!

I use TubeDownloader on the phone to download 1080p videos directly to the phone. I also use one of the many available YouTube downloaders for Firefox to download stuff as well. I copy them straight to the phone, so streaming isn't even an issue. It's quite nice.
