What is SD card maximum capacity?

I just bought a new TMOBILE S4, and popped in my 256gb sd card from my Note 4, but it's not showing any pics in Gallery. However, I can open and view pics in My File, under sd card. Furthermore, I am getting this annoying message, see pic. Does this mean my S4 does not support sd cards that is beyond 64gb?

Thanks, Golfdriver97. That's a useful site. Bummer, I was hoping my 256gb would work since the S4 just came with only 16gb. Perhaps that's what the message means? Furthermore, maybe 64gb was the highest at the time? Who knows...

I think the OS needs to be coded to take external storage and that storage limit. So you may be correct that it was the higher cards at the time, but if the OS doesn't recognize it, that still may be the root reason why.

64 gb is the highest at release. Right now I have a 200gb card working on my s4.
