What is the best Rom out currently?

I'm on Codename 1.4 and haven't seen a need to make the change to 1.5 or any other rom. Can anyone give a clear explanation as to if there is another rom that noticeably runs better? I'm also running Franco's kernel and should note that I am not addicted to flashing roms on a daily basis (seems that some roms have been going through a lot of new versions lately).

Thanks

How does Franco's kernel run on Codename? I saw that v1.5 is packaged with Android Kernel 1.7.3.

Running the latest stable version 3.0.8 Milestone 1, no issues, great battery life. oc max cpu at 1350 and the hotplug mod shutting down cpu1 when the screen is off.

That's one thing I don't like about Crossbreed, is no overclocking (at least I haven't found it yet). Although, it runs pretty well at 1.2 GHz so I can't imagine I would need to overclock. I do like that hotplug to shutdown cpu1 though, and the voltage tweak. That would be a great battery saver.

The more I play with Crossbreed, the more I like it. Things I wish were included in the change logs or OP in general is a description of all the tweaks. There are tons in Crossbreed, half of which I have no clue what they'll do.

I'm still determined to flash Codename, otherwise I won't know if it's better for me.

Edit - I take that back. It will overclock up to 1.382 GHz.

Does anyone know if Franco's kernel can be run with Crossbreed V7? It seems to include a lot more tweaks that appeal to me over the one currently used in Crossbreed. I haven't seen anything that would indicate that it's incompatible, so is there any danger with flashing it on top of the ROM other than having to go back?

Yes, it can.

Although, stac, Monolith B1 is out ;).

You say that like it was anxiously anticipated. I'll have to check it out.

Now it's just getting stupid. There's so many things to pick from. Crossbreed is driving me crazy with all the tweaks. I need to learn to be patient and only try a couple tweaks at a time. There are times I'll tweak a dozen things and don't really like the result, and then I have to search forever trying to get back to where I made the change.

It's essentially a Milestone build, which means that it's both stable AND feature rich. Think of it as a crossbreed between the two crossbreeds--SHO and STD.

Okay, back to another Franco kernel, so that might be worth trying (nothing else very compelling over SHO). Although it'll get tiring configuring all the preferential tweaks daily.

I assume because we already applied the 4.0.4 upgrade, we only need to flash the Monolith B1 ROM?

Correct. Hence my point in the other thread that the order of flashing the Get Ready package is really moot. Its backwards compatibility logically leads to the conclusion that flashing order doesn't matter.

I mean, you can always reflash. All it does is waste a minute or two of your life lol.

Maybe the only thing that can make each subsequent ROM better is a way to backup transferrable tweaks so they can be applied to the new ROM with the same features. But I believe that's a magic that can't happen. :-\

You can try saving little stuff, like launcher settings. That's what I do. Setup now (for me) takes 15 minutes tops.

I suppose if I stick with the same one it'll be second nature.

Is there a source for customizable soft keys for this?

Should be in the Master Mods. Otherwise, you can download ones on XDA and the like and use ZipThemer to apply them.

Follow the instructions in that guide I sent you a few days ago.

Oh Yeah, the app I was referring to about verifying you're actually rooted is Root Checker. It verifies root access and that the BusyBox is installed correctly.

Ahhh, thank you!

I forgot Busy Box once, was a terrible idea.
