What is the best way to setup google for work email?

Hi all, I have 2 google for work emails and am wondering what's the best way to set it up in my samsung s6edge. The phone is on Marshmallow and I really don't like the gmail app. I did try to use the stock email app but although the push does work, it's quite delayed while in the gmail app it's instantaneous. I do know that google for work email can be setup as an exchange account. My question really is does an exchange setup for only email eat up the battery compared to the gmail app?

Exchange is slower than POP3. Just find a POP3-settable email app you like and use it for work. (I have GMail in case soneone asks questions about it, but I would never use it.)
