What is the newest, easiest root method?

I attempted to flash the new radios, wimax, and pri using the combo file I found at XDA. As a result, I ended up basically bricking my phone. I've got it back up and running. I've lost root and man does a stock evo suck butt. When I first rooted, I used the downgrade to 2.1 and flashed Unrevoked, I think. Will someone please point me in the direction of an easier method? It's late, i'll root again tomorrow. Until then, I'll be rolling with a stock Evo for more of my Friday. Thanks!

One more thing, if it helps, I don't have one of the newer Evos. I think I have 0003 and in recovery it already shows S-off.

If it already shows S-off your still rooted. Meaning you probably used unrevoked forever.

So, go to the market install super user, then rom manger. Use rom manager to flash clockwork recovery and flash away.

Then use clockwork to flash Amon Ra ;-) jk

Edit.

Yo. Amon_ra is good for one thing tho. A solid nand back up because it backs up your Wimax partition and wimax keys. Clockwork doesnt. I keep one amon ra backup just incase i bork my 4G someday lol

Don't think I'm rooted. ROM manager and Rom manager both taking me I'm not. Superuser installed a file on my SD card to flash. Went to recovery to flash and got red triangle with exclamation point.

Edit: Installed Terminal Emulator....no longer rooted. So, back to the beginning. What is everyone using to root nowadays?

What is your Hboot number? That makes a difference on the answer to your question. Unrevoked doesn't work for Hboot 2.02 and 2.10, so if you have one of those, you'll have to do use one of the methods over at XDA.

Went to recovery and I the top it shows hboot-0.93.000. Is this what I'm looking for?

That is the number you are looking for. Based on that you should be able to use unrevoked. Unrevoked is probably the "easiest" method out there but I would not recommend it since you can't effectively troubleshoot if something goes wrong.

This method by LiquidJesus (stickied in this Hacks forum) is what I would recommend. I'm confused: you said you did the rollback to 2.1 method already? I assume that you did this or something similar already? Why not just do it again? :)

Oh god. Listen if it says s off you're rooted. Trust.

Google z4 root, install and run it. It will give you root access again and install super user for you. Since your nand is already unlocked you will be full root.
