what is the realistic life of the non-removable battery? 1 year, 2 years, or less?

Wait a minute. So if I buy a phone with a non removable battery, and keep it for up to 2 years, once the battery cycles out, I may not be able to just replace the battery??? Apple is different obviously... They support their devices for so many years that u can get help and a replacement battery no matter how old the device. But what happens on the android side???

I think it says in the manual that you just have to take the phone to an authorized repair facility and they can replace the battery for you.

Now in the case of this device, who would be considered an authorized repair facility? The carrier?

You can send it back to Motorola but you will be without your phone for awhile.

If you happen to live in a large city, there may be authorized repair facilities that you can bring the phone to. Usually there is a list of places in the documentation that comes with the phone.

We'll know later toda, the 18th has finally arrived!

Apple is a company. Android is an os. I wish people could get that through their Heads.

And I'm sure if I took my original ipod mini to get the battery replaced they wouldn't help me. They would have me buy a new product.

Plus it's really not that hard to take the back off and get to the battery. By the time it gets to the you're warranty will be over anyway?

In response to replacement phones. I have the Razr MAXX HD. LOVE It. my daughter has the iphone 4S. I prefer the androids. On Verizon, you have 14 days to switch if you don't like it or if there is a problem. I recently had a big issue with mine. 3 1/2 months of perfect use then odd things started going wrong. Verizon sent me a certified like new phone. It did not work correctly. I called and they overnighted another new one. Motorola tried to fix mine, the repaired one item on the checklist but the others they said did not exist. Motorola dropped the ball in customer service severely. It said it was a third party app. However, the did a factory reset and it still would not activate. I went through 2 replacements from Verizon. The third one actually was one that no one ever used and was returned for whatever reason. I looked at the build date -- was too new to have been someone else's problem. Works great!!

Verizon will keep sending you a new phone until you are happy. They even offered to let me switch to a completely different phone because of all the issues I had. I am sticking with the Maxx HD. Amazing phone that lasts on one charge with medium use through the day for about 2 days going down to 25%. I have been told to shut down the phone for about 2 minutes every day. It reboots and keeps phone working at its best so the technicians have told me.

I only charge once every 3-4 days. I figure if there is 500 charge cycles it should last 3+ years before I see any battery degradation. I will have bought something new by then anyways.
