What is this icon on my Samsung Tablet

I have an icon in the top left of my tablet which looks something like this:

When I pull the notification bar down there is nothing there. Does anyone know what is please?

Which tablet do you have? You posted in the original Galaxy Tab forum, which is ancient. If you let us know which tablet you have, I can move it to the appropriate forum, which might get better exposure.
