What is this setting under Do Not Disturb??

Can't find anything about what app rules is under Do Not Disturb. I just set up DND for the first time on any device and hopefully it can solve my issues with notifications sounding overnight. Just wondering what this app rules setting is and if I can use it to help better utilize DND.

at a guess app rules is dealing with apps you set special rules to like being able to run while do not disturb is on.

But there is nowhere to set the rules within the DND settings area. You can toggle on and off which apps you want to not be affected by DND but that's it. I don't see any options anywhere else to set them either.

It's where you set the settings in the individual app. For instance if I go into the Facebook notification settings and tell it to ignore the DND...

That is giving special permission to specific apps to indeed go off while your phone is on Do Not Disturb Mode. You could even set specific contacts to be High Priority Alerts; meaning you'll still get calls and texts from those people even while your phone is set to DND. If you don't check off the app permissions or change those specific settings, then I don't think they will alert you while in DND Mode.
