what is wrong with BB employees

Damn, 50 miles away. I would keep it out of pure laziness.

I paid more than that, and mine cost $589.99, lol

So I go down to my local best buy to talk about the wifi xoom and see if im going to need to reserve one. I see an employee standing near the xoom display and I ask " are you going to have the Wifi xoom tomorrow?" He says isn't this one Wifi capable? I said Yes but I want the wifi only xoom? He says I'm not sure we have that? I say you are going to be selling that tomorrow! some other guy ( employee ) standing behind him is shaking his head NO! I say why are you shaking your head NO? he says we don't have those! so I say are you the only BB in the country NOT selling the wifi only xoom tomorrow? He walks off on me. The first guy says I'll have to check on that, and he leaves for about 5 minutes. He comes back and say " Yes sir we are going to have a few of those tomorrow morning after our delivery" So I ask do I need to put one on hold? do you have pre-orders on those? he says I'll have to go check on that. Long story short..... why do I need to be the one who tells them what products they will have for sale???? Crazy!

Yep, I hear what you are saying. When I bought my Xoom several weeks ago I was checking the device out in the mobile dept where it was displayed. I waited around forever as the guys were helping other peeps. They then told me to go to the computer dept for any help... the computer guys then told me to go to mobile for help... I went to go find the store manager as I didn't want to play games... problem solved. But certainly not the best environment to support customers and sell product IMO.

HAHAHA - This thread is HILARIOUS. When I got my WI-FI only Xoom today.. the best buy dudes were trying to sell it to me for 799.. saying I only got it for 599 if I get the contract with Verizon. I had to teach them about the device as well. I agree that it's "apple" land in there - the geek squad dude tried to talk me into an ipad ONE instead of the xoom. what a clown!

Yep... big-shoe, blu-shirt clowns!!!

Xoom Pre-order Launch Day- I walk into BB ask the guy about Xoom "pre-order," he says "zoom... what is that...?" I educate him and he insists that BB doesn't and won't be selling it. I direct him to a computer screen in the store and show him the Xoom pre-order announcement on the BB website. We finally get it squared away and my pre-order is set.

Xoom Pick-up day- I go into BB to pick up the Xoom... same idiot is now trying to convince me that the Xoom is "vaporware" and to buy a Ipad because "there is no Adobe Flash on the Xoom." After pointing out to him that he didn't even know what the Xoom was a few days ago, and then educating him yet again... I got tired of the discussion, got a little snarrky and just said:

"Its unfortunate that you'll likely never really know what this thing can and can't do. Cause on your salary, you probably won't ever be able to actually, really test drive one of these without missing a rent payment. Ya probably should have went to the college 3 blocks away"...:D

It is indeed "Apple-Land" and includes a SHRINE to IOs products...

BB is just not a company that breeds good employees. Or rather, their idea of a "good" employee is one that pushes Apple products and extended warranties. I hear complaints about them across the board and it just leads me to conclude that they make enough off of warranties and Apple to justify the terrible service. They will hire those who are more persuasive than those who actually know what they are talking about. Anyone who does just 10 minutes of research before going there can see through the BS immediately. They feed off of the tech-ignorant.

Well I went back to mybestbuy todayand pickedup the zoom they didn't know they had. I swathe Guy who was shaking his head no to me yesterday and he ended up avoiding me. I had to ask for help. The Guy took 10 minutes to find them (under the display. In the cage) looked everywhere but there first. Any way got it home and loving it so far. Can't wait to customize.

Yes it appears best buy isn't about the Xoom at all. When I went in looking at tablets they kept trying to get me to look at the Apple Ipad. I said I am not interested in something apple, I do not want apple software on my system. They frowned and pretty much gave up talking to me after that. Then after the wifi only version was announced I went in and asked if they'd have it on the 27th when it was released. They looked at me like I was nuts and said I hadn't heard anything about this. I said funny since they announced Best Buy as a store in the Motorola News Release. Again the salesperson tried to direct me to a Ipad (this time an Ipad2). I said doesn't have SD card don't want. This salesperson even tried to tell me the Ipad2 had one standard. It was funny watching them try to remove the switches on the side of the Ipad2 on display to show me the SD slot.

Anyhow i digress. I Ordered my Xoom Wifi when it was up for sale for store pickup from Bestbuy.com and set it to pickup at my local store. I went in today to get the item. I noticed the box had a 799 sticker on it. Didn't think much of it until I got to my car and pulled the box out of the bag. I see Verizon on the top... Ok probably just a packaging mistake. Get the unit home and turn it on. Everything loads up and all of a sudden I'm seeing the screen to setup my 3g service with Verizon...

Umm opps.

You guys getting the verizon Xoom are LUCKY! Makes me wish I had the money to go pick mine up tomorrow. By the time I get it they will probably realize their mistakes!

same here. I don't get paid till Wednesday and by that time BB will probably realize what they are doing.

The sad part is, the best buy employees only have to be as smart as the general public they sell to on a frequent basis, looking at that as a whole makes me sad for our future.

So how are you guys enjoying your Xoom's thus far? I'm having a blast with mine... almost makes me want to skip sleeping tonight!

I'm an honest fool and told my best buy guy "you're looking for the BLUE box". But I live in Germany and the Verizon chip would've been useless anyways!

You guys have had some bad experiences with best buy. The only time i really have been there were to buy a TV and a ipod. Usually i go to the apple store or a carrier store for my tech needs.
