Android Central Question

From today evening, my phone is going crazy when I put on the earphones. Its opening google assistant automatically, opening keyboard automatically, volumes adjusting automayically etc.. Its a Samsung Galaxy S9 plus running in Android 8.0.. Also, I have checked with other headsets and I have restarted my phone many times, and it's still happening. Is there anything wrong with the headphone jack?

All the headsets with same problem ..?
I'd say it's the phone ..
bring it back anyway ..

No, there's something wrong with the phone. It's under warranty - get it replaced.

Before you do, though, boot into safe mode, just to make sure it's not an app that you installed - see https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...support/knowledge-base-216817/&token=cRFU_X1r. (It's a Verizon page, but they all go into safe mode the same way.)

Thank for your reply. It's happening even at the safe mode.. By the way, i am the one who asked the question. I registered after asking the question.

Welcome to Android Central! This might be a little late, but are all of the headphones you're trying "Made for iPhone"? If so, it could also be due to the iPhone-specific headphone plug configuration (which is slightly different from Android's).

There are a couple of things you might want to try:

1. use a paperclip or something similar to gently probe for lint or other debris in the jack itself. It's possible to get stuff in there that you can't see from the outside.

2. using a needle, very gently reach behind the most obvious connector pin in the jack and bend it away from the wall of the jack. This can sometimes get pushed inward a little, making it lose contact with the headphone connector.
