What is your experience hiding the navigation bar?

So with the July update we can now hide the nav bar (without the complicated work-around previously known). I've gone ahead and done it. For the most part, I like having the extended real-estate. It even off-sets having to do an extra swipe (and it pleasantly reminds me of the beloved swiping from BB10). However, when I'm in a hurry it is a pia and in some apps (textra, for example) it requires 3 moves (swipe to see it, click back to lose keyboard, click back to get out of Textra).
Whereas before, I wasn't missing the extra screen space, now that I've had it, I do miss it when I unhide the nav bar.
What's your experience?

I kinda dont like it. I surely don't mind having the extra space when it is hidden but when I do need it then it sometimes becomes a hassle. I gotta swipe up multiple times or end up hitting something other than what I needed. So for now its always displaying.

That's been my experience as well.

Trying to pull up the bar almost becomes infuriating because it takes several swipes before it registers.

So for now the bar stays and my temperament remains pleasant.

I use it and love it. There was a learning curve being was used to it just being there all the time.

I go back and forth from turning it off and back on. It's nice having the option to do so.

Is burn in a concern if you leave it on screen? Now that the black nav bar option is gone I'd think not

I hid the button that locks/unlocks the navigation bar. I keep it perma locked. It still goes away for media so that is all I really care about. It can stay up during normal day to day use.

More of a hassle than an advantage for me. Tried it for a few hours and didn't like it. the extra screen space doesn't really mean much for me.

Adding to that, I sometimes end up pressing the button by mistake.

A better implementation might be on its way

I like that I can have it there or not, my choice. I had just gotten the S8, and I use it as a bedside clock at night, and having the nav bar always on while the clock was on was a little too bright for me. I was glad to see the method of taking it away.

I was very excited to get this option. But having used it a few days now I am back to having them always visible. I didn't realize how much I used the buttons and having to swipe up became annoying.

I'm still using it with them hidden. I think I would have turned it off after 5 minutes if the ability to force press the home button even when the nav bar is invisible wasn't there. But that alone means most of the time having the nav bar hidden is fine.

I like the option and have been hiding it since the update. I haven't had any problems with it not appearing on the first swipe up.

a pretty mixed bag of results so I guess it's important to have it as an option. Would be nice to have the black / clear option.

I like having the option to hide it, but I rarely do so. Once in awhile when doing an extended web browsing session I get rid of the navigation bar so I have the extra real estate. But generally, it hides itself when I watch videos and such, so it's generally not an issue locking it in place.

I've had several phones that had nav bars that could be hidden (immersive mode) and depending on the app, it's nice. The thing I've found is that it's better to leave well enough alone. Apps that hide the nav bar on their own are designed to hide it...so they will have controls to compensate. But forcing an app that doesn't normally use immersive move, not a fan... things can act a little weird.
