In regards to Ram I go with the thought that unused / free Ram is wasted Ram / memory.
Personally I leave it alone to self manage itself.
I have 1GB free and after optimization it's 1.5GB free. I've seen 1.8GB free after a reboot.Hello, my free memory is always between 650 and 750MB. The maximum after optimization is 1.1GB. Is this OK?

I don't mean to jack your thread but whenever I click on "memory" under "settings>device maintenance" I don't see any type of buttons to "clean now" etc....am I missing something here? What happened to the "device maintenance" screen that everyone else is seeing?
Let it finish scanning then the button will show.when I select "device maintenance" it shows 4 selections "battery, performance mode, storage, and memory......no other buttons
If you are concerned about apps running in the background, then put it to sleep. Putting it to sleep will stop the apps running in the background but won't unload them from memory. It won't consume battery when it's sleeping. Although you wouldn't get updates from those apps.I have 1GB free and after optimization it's 1.5GB free. I've seen 1.8GB free after a reboot.
Quite frankly, the less free ram you have, the more that is running in the background. So while 650MB seems low, you probably have plenty running in the background using it. It will be cleared when you need it for something else though.

It should be quick. Less than 10 seconds.how long does that generally take? Have had that open for 10 minutes now and still nothing.
