I went straight to Google Messages but I might go back and give the stock a try. What are you all using?

I always use and love messages+. It has more features I use like scheduled messaging, group MMS is easy.

Google never liked Samsung's messaging and never tried anything else. What am I missing ?

Using the stock messaging app because,
a. It supports T-Mobile advanced messaging
b. It's fully compatible with my Galaxy Watch's texting app
I once tried Android messages. It's great for messaging from the web, but I could never get past the compatibility issues.

Those are great points. Textra works with the watch I think as well if you wanted options.

Always used Textra because previous devices stock app was slow or just flat out sucked. I'm using stock at the moment which is quite nice! I think I may keep it!

I always try different texting apps and always end up coming back to textra. Verizon+ messages is so over bloated with features you probably will never use.

Textra - I like being able to customize.
This... Textra offers just the right amount of customization, they don't go overboard with everything under the sun. It's a basic texting app that gives the user the right amount of customization options and works good.

tried stock, but I have contacts with multiple phone numbers(work, mobile, etc). Starting new conversation in the stock app shows multiple entries for same person, but doesn't say mobile, home, work, etc? So, now Im on google messages like I was before, but found on trip out of the country that goole messages doesn't send via wifi, unlike verizon message+, problem is I don't care for Verizons app. I WANT to use the Samsung version, but not if I cannot tell what contact is what....

loved textra but it wouldn't pull all of my text messages over to a new phone so I'm using the stock.

I usually switch to Verizon messages+ before switching phones. Verizon messages will back up your text messages and then restore them on the new phone, then I switch back to textra. The message back up from Verizon messages is a nice feature, but other then that I prefer textra, I think it's easier to use and looks better
