What Smartphone / PDA did you leave for android?

Got tired of updates bringing features that dumbphones have had for years (eg threaded text) so i switched from S1 to Droid

I left my BB (8900) that I had for 10.5 months. It was excellent as a phone but when it came to web browsing or utilizing apps, it was bogus. I think I only had about five or six apps (all free) due to most of them being so expensive. BB is a good platform but just doesn't fit with me like Android does.

Blackberry 8330m on Sprint

Slow speeds (used old 3G revision for some ridiculous reason), hardware failures, useless internet browser (even Bolt wasn't much better)..but I do have to say it handled e-mail and phone calls quite nicely. Just failed for me as a PDA really besides the email.

Interesting that such a large percentage of people switched from a blackberry. Nothing against blackberry but they are great for corporate users but if they don't want to lose market share, they need to make a more consumer friendly smartphone IMO.

Verizon Blackberry Pearl

It worked great for email, calls, pandora and battery life. Droid is better for me because of the openness of the OS.

4 years with the Treo 650. One year with blackberry (curve and storm back and forth). Now Droid. Way faster. Better reception, faster, easier to customize, the list goes on. Cheers!

Moto Rokr....lol best upgrade ever
phone was literally splitting in half

Motorola Q -> iPhone -> iPhone 3G -> iPhone 3GS -> HTC Touch Pro -> Samsung Omnia -> BlackBerry Tour -> BlackBerry Storm 2 -> Droid

I had been pretty happy with the iPhone until it became imperitive at work that I have cell service inside the building. Basically, while Verizon has 5 bars inside, there is virtually zero AT&T signal inside the building. None. Nada. Maybe by a window, but otherwise zip. So by necessity I had to switch to Verizon.

As you can see, I basically worked my way though every smartphone VZW had to offer. But now that I've hit Android, I think I'm finally happy.

Besides, if I change phones again, my wife will kill me!

AT&T sucks, so I had bail on my iPhone for VZW. The Droid is the next best thing.

Still have the iPhone though. It's on a cheap family plan as my wife and 3 kids also have iPhones. But mine gets virtually no use these days.

I came from a BB 9530. I don't have any complaints about the 'Berry. The Droid just does Google better by miles and everything I do is Google (outside of exchange)... seemed like a no brainer. That and I'm a bit of a tech wh*re. :D
