What to do when 2.2 comes and your rooted?

OK well this question came more of a concern to me since users are seeing the new version of the market, that we may possibly be getting the 2.2 update sometime soon? Either way this is somthing i need to adress sooner or later.

I am rooted but still have stock rom and recovery, more rooted for certain apps and simply because i can. When the 2.2 update comes out will i have to unroot first. Or will i be able to attempt to apply the update and loose root and then re root when someone figures it out in like a day or is it possible that will brick my phone?

I delete alot of the bloatware but i have a backup of the system/app folder and i know what ones i removed, so i could always put them back then un root and apply if that will avoid bricking it. And also if i unroot but have every intention of re rooting once someone figures it out, is it ok to leave my root required apps installed as long as i dont open them until i re root?

You may not want to apply that update immediately. You may lose root and the current root method may not work. Wait till some others try and see what happens.

I'm in the same boat as you. I removed apps but haven't installed a custom rom. I'm hoping a Rom gets leaked with 2.2 and I'll work off that one instead of the stock update.

Based on other updates to Froyo, you will have to restore the bloatware otherwise the update will most likely fail...I don't know if you have to unroot though. When the latest VZ update came out a few weeks ago it killed the root but came back pretty easily.

So, more than likely Froyo will kill root and fail on missing bloatware...so put the bloatware back when Froyo is ready, kill root, then apply Froyo. Then reroot once it's ready.

There will be an update.zip created of the leak or the final at some point. Usually happens as quick as it comes out. With CWM, you can just load it up.
