What would you like to see improved on the EVO 4G?

Android needs to support multiple google/google apps accounts with full integration of calendar and docs, a reader, picasa. WebOS does a great job managing multiple accounts. Weak in the apps department but allows full integration of accounts calendars mail all compiled into one place.

After 2 days of use & extensive investigation..

FIRST, I love it! Only the battery issue stands out to me as a really bad thing.

Things I'd change:
BATTERY...yikes...Used what I think would be normal use and kept brightness low...and only got 5 hours out of it after leaving plugged in for 12 hours after buying. This scares me... I'd like a full day. I'm not a business user constantly checking e-mail; I fear they may be exceptionally frustrated with this. I DID have GPS running the entire time to see what it would do to the battery. Ran on 3G (don't have 4G).
Speaking of 4G, the 10 "Premium Data" fee is ridiculous when so few have the 4G area coverage. I can only imagine what the battery would do in a 4G area.
All of the fun features of the phone with its incredible processor are what use the battery.

Speakerphone is really bad. I'm spoiled, however, because my previous was a Sony Ericsson w580i designed to be an mp3 player and had great sound!
However, if your finger covers the speaker...you're doomed on sound. Also, it seems to "dim" sometimes when other applications or internet access opens up. Very strange.

Location of capacitive touch buttons so close to the edge means constantly accidentally hitting them while trying to use the phones camera or some other functions. I don't know how that would be solved and keep the incredible touch sensitivity, but it's definitely a problem. Yes, the ability to use the camera with one hand easily would be very preferable.

SD card change requires removal of battery...grrr.
I miss the wriststrap/lanyard ability.

Does anyone know why apps generally cannot be "quit" when exiting rather than HAVING to run a task killer to close them? Also, some seems to just open on their own after you close them. I don't know if this is an Android thing or HTC.

Wi-Fi range - also really bad. I have a long range N router. This phone barely picks up a signal, and it's only about 20' from the router!

Things they could have improved in this first offering:
* Battery capacity
* Wi-fi antenna strength
* One handed camera use or ability to disable capacitive button(s) when using certain features like the camera or typing in landscape mode. It's almost impossible not to hit the buttons when typing that way.
* Tap code to wake-up rather than having to hold it to press the button.
* An addt'l kickstand?? The temptation to tap while it is standing is unavoidable. It falls right over then.
* More landscape features on other functions like address book and misc other where you have to type.

I hope you find this useful!

I really love this phone, coming from an iPhone. The one main gripe I have is the button to wake it up....it needs to be farther to the top right and maybe a little less flush.

To whoever said the phone is too slow. You are crazy, I think it is super fast and everyone who has used my phone agrees

I really wish the calendar app were better. I'm a long time palm desktop user and needed to work too hard to import and sync data. Had to buy Companion Link and Deja Office. Still stuck with the default calendar on home page.
Fantastic phone. No worries that I'll return it like my Pre.

I just want easier and more customization.

I'm sure these have been said, but I'm saying them anyway:

Native screenshots
Better email app
Better music app
Wifi is not that great.

After owning the Pre for the last 8 months and the EVO for 3 days the only problem I've had is with the Video Recorder.....NO LIGHT.....daylight recording is fine but in a low light area wheeeeew

* Sense landscape mode
* Preview of wallpaper before accept
* Native task killer to reduce background load

Micro HDMI works on my 2009 Samsung LCDTV. HTC shoudl provide the handshake firmware ASAP!

HI,
I am upset that I can't use the micro HDMI on my 2009 Samsung LCDTV (LN32B360C5D). Smasung says they do have a firmware that will allow a handshake. In fact, when I called them they knew nothing about the micro cord or the connection. Not untill I pressed and the supervisor claled theuir Tech Triage did she find out they may be working on a solution.

Does anyone know if HTC can/has created a fix or if their is another work around?

Here's my list (probably more after I get more time with the phone):

1) Smaller screen size. I know - weird since everyone loves the big screen. I like the screen, but I can't reach all of the screen with one hand. A more reasonable size like 3.7" may work. I wonder how the Galaxy would fair at 4".

2) Better QA. The build quality is great, but little quality issues like the light seeping from the buttons to the screen are there. Mine isn't as bad as some people, but there really should be none. Actually, that seems to be the only quality issue, so still not a bad job, HTC.

3) Sense UI. Again, more of a taste, but I would like an option to have Sense completely out, as well as the ability to remove the Sprint apps. A Google Phone version of the EVO would be nice. Being Android, I would love the ability to flash different ROMs without the worry of an unofficial rooting process (like installing your favorite OS on a PC). -- PS: Changing the launcher isn't the same. :(

As you can see, I'm stretching here. :) So on to some more realistic stuff...

4) Battery life - yes, smartphones are power hungry, but it could be better.

5) WiFi reception. I, too, am getting 1 to 2 bars when my other devices get full bars. However, I think it's just the phone reporting the wrong signal strength because using SpeedTest, I still get 3-4 Mbps on WiFi (which is about right for my ISP's speed).

I sooooo want a Nexus One after trying one out - the EVO is my first Android phone though. I love the camera/camcorder. oh...

6) Video should be in MP4, cuz not everyone knows how to open .3gp files.

more onboard storage
have the camera recessed so it doesn't get scratched as easily
bigger LED so you can see notifications from 30 feet away like the blackberries
Copy and paste EVERYWHERE
slightly smaller, like 4.1?
Froyo

When you put a case on the phone the camera lens doesn't stick out.

I wish they would have lit up the bottom buttons so you can see them at night. I'm sure with time I will remember were and what each button does, but still would have been nice like they did with the Hero.

My buttons stay lit up in the dark? All night long.....

Camera Cap

Can someone please come up with an aftermarket camera cap...that would make me happy. I'm sick of worrying where I set my phone down, as to not scratch the **** out of the lens...that is all

there is an application called profiles. its free and you can customize it to your liking
