What would you like to see in the next Moto X?

I'd like wireless Qi charging. Other than that, just improvements in processor, camera and battery.

I wouldn't use fingerprint unlock anyway, due to privacy issues.

I'll take that fingerprint unlock if you don't want it Laura. :)

  • Qualcomm 820
  • 4 GB RAM
  • 64GB or greater storage
  • 1080p resolution or greater (but not much)
  • 7 day battery life
  • USB-C connection
  • Metal construction
  • Motomaker
  • OIS phenomenal camera making Galaxy S6 look anemic
  • Indestructible screen
  • $350
  • wicked fast Qi charging
  • "Does the laundry" app

If you're going to dream...

Apply these items and the MXPE will be perfect...for me:
AMOLED 2560x1440
4GB RAM
Snapdragon 820 or better
3600mAh Battery
Wireless Charging
Fingerprint Sensor
LED Notification Light
Customizable navigation bar/buttons
Photo OIS
Photo HDR - tune it down a little
GSM Band 30 LTE

Well then I want,
Better battery
Same size screen
Amoled screen
Laser focus or better ois
Same price
Waterproof
I hope they keep front facing speakers and not pull a HTC..

I like the current MotoX but ended up with the 6P.

-Fingerprint sensor. I didn't care for it but now that I have it, it's nice to have to unlock and faster
-curved back but 4000mah battery
-5.5 - 5.7" screen
-64/128/256 GB storage options. No need for MicroSD cards
-USB-C port with HDMI out
-DAC headphone jack
-SD820/3GB RAM or more
-let's get rid of humps on the back and make the entire back a smooth curve back. I know they do it for the camera but make it all even and put a bigger battery on it.

I'd love to see the next Moto X be a little smaller. I think a FPS on the front would be great, and improved low light pictures would be a bonus.

What I really want more than anything is for the next design to not include the awful white plastic ring around the front piece of glass. It completely breaks up the lines of the phone and even makes it look like the front glass has a blue-ish hue.

If it looked like the Mi 5 I'd be a happy camper!

Wireless charging
All day battery
5.7+" LCD
Front facing speakers
USB type C

It will probably have fingerprint sensor, so I'd like it on the side or back.

Definitely wireless charging and a decent camera. I still am using my Moto X 2013 and I use the flick the wrist for the camera launch practically every day. Let's keep the around 5" sweet spot though.

Just upgraded from Moto X Pure Edition (2nd GEN) to the new Moto X Pure Edition (white/bamboo). So far, so good but it's definitely an adjustment with the increase in size from the second gen. I think if Moto only does one phone that the sweet spot would be 5.5" so I'd like to see the following:

AMOLED 2560x1440
5.5"
4GB RAM
Snapdragon 820 or better
3300 - 3600mAh Battery
Wireless Charging or Turbo Charging (which is awesome btw)
OIS for camera, and continued overall improvement
Metal as an option for Moto Maker.
32/64/120GB internal storage (no use for 16GB today)
$350 starting price (more likely $399 though)

- waterproof
- hardware encryption

reasons: My company is moving to require encryption (and I've had a bad experience on 'droid with s/w encryption performance). i'm using a 3rd gen moto G and love the cpu/balance/waterproof performance. but, i see a huge need for the hardware encryption soon.

Shatterproof screen. A screen that needs a screen to protect it -- is under-engineered.

Tough metal case. A case that needs a case to protect it -- is under-engineered.

Removable battery. Removable back covers that serve no purpose but decoration -- help mask this serious shortcoming in functionality.

SD slot. Thanks for adding it to the 2015 model.

2013 smaller AMOLED screen. Many good reasons for it, especially ergonomic efficiency and battery life. Tablets already exist to serve the needs for big yet portable screens. If necessary, sell two versions: a phablet and a compact.

Dual front speakers. Thanks for putting them on the 2015 model.

Camera with 3-axis OIS. Put a real camera on it, not yet another "new and improved" Facebook selfie-makers for teenage girls. 4HD/UHD, ultraslow movies, and other gee-whiz special effects -- merely mask this serious shortcoming in functionality.

Except for the top two, almost every premium phone out there is going to use the latest Snapdragon SoC. Moto will lose its technical advantages. Unless Lenovo seriously adds value to the Moto, the brand will never compete with the top two.

For the Moto X:

- a choice in screensize: 5.1" or 5.7" (including the battery differences this will bring, 3000 mAh on the 5.1, 3500 mAh on the 5.7)
- Snapdragon 820 and 4GB of RAM
- FPS (doesn't really matter to me where, front, side power button, Moto dimple on rear)
- back to AMOLED and I wouldn't even mind if the 5.1" was only 1080
- Moto Maker with ballistic nylon no longer exclusive to the DROID brand
- and the same Moto software enhancements on top of Android
- an announced commitment to AT LEAST the security patches. I don't care if they only come quarterly instead of monthly. I just want a commitment.
- SD slot
- work on all four major US carriers
- 32GB be the minimum storage
- 5.1" starting at $399.99, 5.7" starting at $499.99
- don't regress with the camera

I want the "nano coating" to actually have an IP rating.
