I just wanted to gather some opinions on what's the most important features on phones.

I'm going to be upgrading soon but I am torn between the Sony Xperia Z3 (if it officially comes to Verizon) and the Moto X. I would love a phone that's waterproof but I feel that the extra functionality on the Moto X may be a better choice.

What features are important to you? What features, if not on a phone, makes it a dealbreaker?

To me the most important feature of water proof/resistant phones is a warranty that covers water damage and none of the water proof/resistant phones have a warranty to reflect that. So imo the water proof/resistant stuff is a complete scam.

The most important features of a phone for me is 1)call quality 2)signal strength 3)battery life 4) hands-free functionality. The Moto X hits on all cylinders for me.

FYI I would not hold your breathe for a Sony device on any CDMA carrier. Sony doesn't care to play in such small markets their concerns are global in scope.
