What's new in Android 4.4.1

What isn't working? Exchange works for me with my N5 and I have yet to receive this update.

the dialer on my nexus 4 looks a bit different than it did on 4.4.. specifically the "all contacts" button

The bug where the share dialog would automatically pick the last selected app, instead of offering a choice, has finally been fixed. (In other words, now it's possible to actually choose a browser in the "share this to a different browser" apps.)

Has video playback gotten better? I have noticed that frame rates drop on any type of video playback (ie. YouTube) in 4.4.

One other thing it seems to have fixed is VoIP over IPv6. Before, Vonage crashed on IPv6 but now it seems OK.

"Photos" now the default gallery app when swiping out of the Camera app

From what I read the new "Photos" folder was for for Nexus/Moto only devices and that "Gallery" was in the native Android source code that is distributed to other manufactures as the default folder for pictures. The other manufactures were free to change Gallery. This doesn't seem like a big thing but it been bugging me that if I take 5 pictures they all go to the Gallery but maybe one or two pictures goes to the Photo folder. So if the default is now the Photo folder will everything still go to the Gallery folder? Am I using twice the storage space on the phone or is it a null pointer stub that really only keeps one copy of the picture?

Looks like they fixed the packet-loss VPN issue. My PPTP VPN connection is working again. With 4.4, the connection was losing packets like crazy.

I can concur with SDLarry that the Exchange bug has been fixed. I was one of the ones affected, and now my emails and calendar invites (so far) have been coming in at the time they are received.

Thank goodness.

I guess no one noticed how loud the speakers are now. I had to turn off my Keyboard sounds, because it was a little too loud and distracting. Much more cleaner and louder. Much better in my honest opinion.

They updated the power control widget's icons too. It's in line with the icons in the Settings pulldown menu. Looks nicer.

the email issue i have is the account I use for AOL, after i delete all my emails on the N5, the mail refreshes and they all come right back. Sometimes I can never delete them until I login in from home and delete them at the source.

I have not gotten the OTA yet, I'm considering sideloading... Should I wait or just do it!!!
