What's the latest S20 FE 5G security update? (Unlocked)

I'm still on August. Unlocked on TMobile. Not a happy camper.

You mention "unlocked on T-Mobile".

What is the significance of T-Mobile? Is there a factory unlocked version specifically for T-Mobile? Or are updates for factory unlocked phones only released by whatever carrier the phone happens to be on?

If the latter, another thing I liked better about Windows Phones. I routinely updated factory unlocked Windows Phones without any SIM in them. They would automatically update over WiFi.

Good question.
I always thought in early days of android unlocked phones received updates faster then carrier branded devices. I was using cricket for awhile then switched to tmobile. Updates usually come for me shortly after AT&T releases theirs.

The question of locked vs. unlocked on a carrier and who gets updates faster has a bit of a rocky history.

In the early years, unlocked phones seemed to always get updates way before carrier branded/locked models.

But around 2017 or so, from Samsung at least, they were updating carrier models before the unlocked models. That seemed to go on for a while until around the time Covid hit.

These days there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason, but unlocked phones do seem to get updates regularly while carriers, especially AT&T, are taking their time again updating locked phones. Sometimes they are only within a week or two. Sometimes they may wait over a month. Sometimes they'll just skip a month or even three completely.

AT&T was like clockwork with my unlocked pixels... I got the updates as soon as Google released them. Pretty much the same for our Moto and windows phones. I always update our new unlocked phones over wifi before I ever put a SIM card in them, so I can take my time setting them up, and have never had a problem including my unlocked Z Flip 3.

I don't doubt there's some holdups with some phones and carriers, but with our combo things seem to go smoothly

Anyone here get One UI 5 yet on their S20 FE?

Android Authority posted an article stating that Samsung posted something saying they'll have the One UI 5 rollout completed in 4 days. Meaning by the end of the year.

Now, the Samsung article itself is from Samsung Malaysia, so maybe that's technically only in Malaysia.

Being on AT&T means maybe with everyone else, or maybe not. With past OS updates, AT&T has been at least within a week of most other carriers.

So far, I've only seen articles mention that the FEs in Europe and India have gotten it starting around the second week of December. No mention of US models yet. Unless I missed it. So, I was just wondering.

as an aside I could not access the forums for a couple weeks even through different browsers and of course the app is useless or did I miss a new app and never updated to it

I just found out there is a specific Android Central Forum app which works. Once again on my PC the forums are gone

Finally got One UI 5 on the AT&T S20 FE 5G.

Dec 1 security patch.

Baseband GVK8.

I still have to clear the cache partition, but things seem to be running fine so far.

I did the two recent Tmo updatws, including UI5 and 13, plus the security patch. It's running faster, but man the battery is going down faster, which I kind of hate. . Yes, I did a clear cache.

I am unlocked on Tmobile.
I find the battery drains faster to around 56% in about 8 hours, but that is with heavy use.
