Sooooo I've had my S6 edge for about a month now and still don't see the big fuss about this screen. I'm in Japan and I just recently switched carriers. The choice came down to the Galaxy S6 edge, Sony Xperia Z4, or IPhone 6 plus. I chose to stick with Samsung since I have so much invested in Android and Sammy combined. The edge screen is ok and all but, where is the real functionality of it. Other than cosmetics, I don't see the big deal. There's only a few features that the edge has that I can see. Sound off, am I missing something here?

Lol....
Wots a point of smartphone... buy nokia 3310 does the same job wot u need.
Fuss is edged screen... if you understand how the screen work then it wud b amazing... if u cant tell a difference between flat screen and bent screen get your eyes checked.
companies spending huge money in new features and looks in the smartphones. Else first iphone and galaxy s wud b enough for everyone.

Look wots happening to blackberry and nokia for not keeping up with new devices.
Dont mind wot i said. I felt insulted for spending £700 for a device which is not up to ur standard.

I turned off the Edge features, and it's still my favorite phone ever.

Before this I had a Note 3. Never once used the stylus, except to check sometimes to see if I wanted to start using the stylus. Nope. Never. It was still my favorite phone ever.

So I honestly can't say you're missing anything.

In the end, I like or dislike phones for MY priorities...and my priorities this time can be summarized as "oooo, that's pretty!" LOL Plus all the other stuff -- the screen, the camera, speed, etc. Since all of that is mostly the same on the Note 5, I went with the looks.

For people who like the idea of swiping to get to your most-used apps and contacts, check out Swipe Pad. MUCH better implementation, you can swipe to almost ANYTHING, including some things that wouldn't have crossed your mind until you saw you could. :-) The free version will be plenty for most folks, but there are some inexpensive but powerful add-ons. I've used it for years, including on my Note, and highly recommend it.

Out of the box there isn't much functionality to the edge. However, I see lots of potential if other app developers get on board to create apps that use the edge feature.

Go for the Priv not only do you still get the same physical look you have enhanced security called DTEK which is a play on the word Detect, BlackBerry Hub so you can locate all your messages in one place and dual virtual/physical keyboard.

You're not leaving Android but you get so much more new things to try.

The Priv looks cool however, I just got this Edge. One thing that concerns me about the Priv is the moving parts. I had a Motorola Droid years back. It was nice but, I never used the physical keyboard. I just liked the feel of the phone. That is until the Droid X came out.
