This website

Hi,

This question is about this site, not about any mobile devices. Its probably been raised before but i can't find anything on the topic. When you navigate between pages and want to go back 1 page, it seems to have loaded the current page like 4 or 5 times, so you can't step backwards or forwards one page. Also if you look at the back/forward history in say Firefox it shows the current page loaded that 4 or 5 times. It's really annoying :)

Re: This website

Hello. Just a regular full website user here. Are you talking about the full website, say on a pc.

I am not sure if what you say is correct (browsing on an app currently) but why would you need to go back in the forums. I would go back using the page numbers on a thread or forum, and navigate by other means.

I would refresh the same page with the browser, to see if anyone has posted.

I know diddly about websites, just an end user, but there's an awful lot to refresh or cache, and opening a thread to read a post is irritatingly slower than an app.

I am waiting until I can scroll down to read.
I usually give up and use my phone apps (Tapatalk and Android Central app). A shame as there is more information on the website, and too little on an app.

You can take this up with people who know better on the Android Central Site forum, this is just a sample thread there so you can find it:

Yep on a PC, it never used to happen up until recently. Say you are reading your participated list, step into a thread to read that then you want to step back to your participated list again, with mice these days its just one button click away as the back button. Its more convenient that way, well for me anyway. This doesnt work anymore as the previous page is still the current thread you are reading and not the previous page (i.e. the participated list).

It happens on all threads.

PC browsing and the back button

Hi,

This question has probably been raised before but i can't find anything on the topic, it never used to happen up until recently, not sure when it changed.

On a Windows PC, when you navigate between pages and want to go back 1 page, this site seems to load the current page you are viewing like 5 or more times, so you can't step backwards one page. Also if you look at the back button history in say Firefox it shows the current page loaded that 5 or more times.

So an example, say you are reading your participated list, you click into a thread to read that, then you want to step back to your participated list again, with mice these days thats just one button click away with the back button. This is what isn't working anymore as the previous page is still the current thread you are reading and not the previous page (i.e. the participated list). It happens on any thread.

Please fix, its very annoying :)

We are on the case... seems like a bug that has cropped up recently. I will submit your feedback to our tech team.

Thank you!

Re: PC browsing and the back button

They are investigating there forum being messed up by a advertising company or the forum hosting company were the adverts effect the browsing experience.
Up until recently They thought and we're led to belive it was users browser or other issues.
But now there on the right path and asking the right questions to the people doing the forum we might get back the forum we no and love

I would go to Participated on a pc, read/respond to the unread (sometimes the undead ) and click on the Participated button again, as I feel it would refresh with any new posts in the meantime. I'm not sure if using the back arrow would not take to a previously cached page, but I'm no expert.

I tried using the back button successive times on my pc just now and it seems to work OK. I use IE 11 on a Windows 7 Lenovo lap/desktop (4 usb ports and a 20" monitor! ) and 8gb of ram.

There may be something in the browser settings or maybe the AC site doesn't suit your browser.

This reminds me not to open a post in the middle of the night and go back to sleep, as I may not remember to respond the next day to a post showing as read.

I, too, am having problem with this website and can't back out a page. I am using firefox and the back button in the browser does not work on both my laptop and desktop. Sometimes hitting the back button several times in a row will finally take me back to the page I was reading. When I am on the home page and click a link to read a blog post, after reading the post, clicking the Back Button is a hit/miss proposition with definitely more misses than hits. Note that this is the only site I frequent regularly that does this.

Not trying to nitpick, but it really is annoying when it doesn't work like it is supposed to.

Thanks for listening. Love the site and frequent it daily for all my Android news!

I see the OP has raised it in the site forum.
I just tried it on Firefox and it seems mostly OK, but I am in the UK and we only get AC related advertising so probably less to load.

Five posts since 2011, you must know too much.

It is a bug with some particular ads which are catered to your preferences, not the browser/PC, the site mods/techs are aware of it and looking into it in the other thread.

I have been tring veriouse brousers and Via a Android phone on the brouser its a Nightmare
Yes the site uses Google but its also using Trackers that are not helping these may be via the Forum Hosting company
They are
Quantcast
Comscore Beacon
SkimLinks (Shows if your mouse Hovered over a Add)
Crazy Egg
BluKai
Exelate
Chartbeater
and three Google ones but the take over adds are just rediculas and the fact that you can not view the main site Via a internet brouser on any mobile platform is discsuting

I've switch to Chrome beta now and vanilla Chrome before that, its much faster than FFox and this site works fine in Chrome. I have adblock installed on both FFox and Chrome, maybe the AD blocker in Chrome is doing a better job? who knows.
