What's up with ZTE, are you going to wait?

Yeah, it may be related to the import ban, but ZTE is still missing a trick here. And the clock is ticking. Their main competition besides the OneOlus Three is going to be the Nexus line. And with the announcement of the (really stupid) name of Android N, the Nexus announcement has to be coming soon.
Good point. However I've read that they have had a temporary reprieve with regard to the US imposed trade embargo.... But who knows the fine details of this arrangement? Maybe they are free to sell corporate level communication equipment but not yet free to sell mobile phones? However, living in Canada I wonder what's stopping them from selling in here? I hope this is resolved soon.

I think that the delay is due to the trade embargo but hopefully I am wrong.

I kind of doubt it: those sanctions were lifted via "temporary" reprieve almost as soon as they were imposed, and the thrust of those sanctions did more to block US suppliers from exporting to ZTE than vice versa. It's equally likely that ZTE is just staggering the global rollout to keep supply and demand under control, and starting with Europe because who wants to deal with US carriers if they can help it?

why the camera is so crappy compared to samsung.
Because, say what you want about them, Samsung just knows a lot more than most OEMs about how to tweak smartphone camera mojo. And ZTE has much, much less experience with flagship-level devices than Samsung.

I agree. I got burned buying the HTC M9 with it's 20 mp camera that turned out to be mediocre. I really want to like this phone, but I'm not going to settle for a sub-par experience with any of the components.

Everyone seems to forget that "exporting to ZTE" means things like Android, and Qualcomm chips, and other such components required to manufacture a phone.

They need to hire people on the outside maybe. People that are more experienced

Thanks is for sharing these links. The Axon has had my attention for a few weeks based on the spec sheet....however, the direct comparison between the Axon and S7 provided me with greater insight about the audio recording via video recording - the comparison leads me to believe that the Axon sound recording is more muffled. ....is the S7 that much more exceptional? or is the Axon closer to average with the quality of sound recording?...those are the questions I will consider when I finally make a decision to purchase the Axon or not...and also, is it a fair comparison? Also, it seems the S7 had a notable low light performance advantage against the Axon... I am currently using an LG G4 and never considered the audio recording quality at the time of my purchase..it was all about the camera and removable battery.... decisions decisions decisions.... :-)

The Axon 7 is only sold unlocked. They won't have to deal with carriers.

It has to be taken as a back handed compliment to be compared to the s7 even if it doesn't beat it on specific areas. OK so the s7 is the better phone, but when you are saving $200-$300 then even to be close to the S7 in terms of performance is still a good thing.

The camera has nice specs, maybe they can tweak the sw to get better results?

Well let's hope they do come out with a sw update so the camera/video will be better quality. Although not as nice as Samsung even though sammy is more expensive unlocked. But if it's a software issues there should put approvement out asap.
ZTE want to break out into the western world (I assume especially in the USA), they should and better come out with guns blazing.
Especially be creative with their advertising. No ad no success. Probably will have to spend a butt loads.
But so far I don't read or hear anything about it.
If it weren't for Android authority i don't think I would of heard about this phone.
Let's hope this will be their only release

I was very interested in the Axon 7. Unfortunately I was also in need of a replacement phone rather urgently so the OP3 beat it to the punch. I'll still be tuning in to the hands-on reviews for the A7, though.

Nothing wrong with announcing a phone then shipping 2 + months later like ZTE but it generally not what most successful phone companies do these days as part of a launch strategy. Look at Apple and Samsung they announce/launch phone and then it's in your hands at least 4 weeks later, sometimes on the same day! This is why some people are a little frustrated with ZTE, Axon 7 phone launch looks amateurish. Im trying to hold our for out but my battery in my beloved HTC m8 is failing badly, I'm not sure if I can wait...

I don't really see the problem with what they're doing personally.

Somebody like me - who is looking for a new phone - appreciates the fact that ZTE has made me aware that it's on its way, even if it's not available quite yet. Otherwise, I would maybe have gone out and bought another phone in the meantime, then been pretty pissed off when not long after ZTE announced and released their phone and I then want that instead. Im glad that they've let it be known now that it's coming soon so that I can wait for it.

Yeah, I instinctively preordered the grey one, buy it's two weeks behind the gold. I don't like gold, but I'm thinking that I may suck it up just so I can have it ASAP.

This is light years better than any BlackBerry launch LOL

Blackberry thinks advertising is not needed.

ZTE is advertising for it's alone via mouth to mouth with a good value for money device.

Just curious. With the release date only 3 days away, you would think major reviewers would have already received units for testing. Maybe in fact they do, but I thought final reviews for most new phones started appearing before the actual release date. I guess if you doubted reviews would be favorable, you would withhold devices until the last minute to avoid pre-order cancellations. I guess it matters not, since we'll have 30 days to evaluate the phone.

We don't know the embargo terms, if any. Given that there are already reviews of the Chinese version, the US one may be embargoed until ship day.
