What's wrong with the Rezound and apps?!

I have found that several apps I have tried will not work on the Rezound but work fine on my wife's Fascinate and my old Incredible. The errors range from working but not properly to not working at all.

Two examples: dice with buddies, worked but several of the options would not work properly. Ez words cheat for words with friends, on the Rezound I get an error saying my screenshot is not of a game, even though it is.

What is wrong with my Rezound?

Its not the rezound its the app. I had similar problems with an app I had been using fine on Gingerbread but when I came to ICS it was telling me it was incompatible. Something about not supporting a HD resolution screen. I finally got it sorted but it still doesn't make any sense to me.

All three phones I mentioned are on Gingerbread....

What is the difference between GB 2.3.4 and 2.3.5 and so on? Is that third number different just because of brand of phone? My Rezound is 2.3.4 but my wife's older Fascinate is on 2.3.5.
