Re: What's you backup plan?

Droid X since first blurry cam leaks appeared here..

I think I can safely speak for *MOST* Droid x owners who have had their devices since July 15th 2010.

After owning the Droid x this long, as different as the Razr Is to the Droid x, its still too similar to it and at this point we are sick and tired of our trusty Dx's.

We are sick of Motorola, sick of the crappy slow camera, sick of holding out for a bootloader unlock.
And sick of spending since July 2010 to get RID of blur.

Who wants to buy a Razr and play this game for another 2 years? spending more time dicking around with the device loading a new rom every few days than actually USING it?>

That being said, For us DX guys, it seems as though the Nexus is the only device that can live up to replacing the good old Droid x.
The resound? updated thunderbolt-fat, looks like any other HTC phone,
Razr- locked bootloader, sick of motorola, crappy screen.

Another thing to point out, Since ICS is going to on-screen navigation buttons, to me anyway all new handsets that have nav buttons seem very last-gen..
I think in the next few months we will see these start to go away.

Geez, I don't understand you're hate for Motorola. Maybe you're just the kind who likes to beat the crap out of a phone (root, bootloader, etc.)

And "crappy screen"? The RAZR's screen is gorgeous! When I looked at it in store yesterday it was amazing! I don't see any PenTile flaws or anything. Looked crisp and good enough for me! And I'm pretty picky. RAZR is a huge upgrade for your Droid X, and you would be happy... or maybe not. I guess it comes down to personal preference. But don't slam Motorola, they make a great product!

I'll stick with my Dinc until nexus is released and reviewed. I'm in much less of hurry since my Dinc FINALLY got gingerbread this week, which seems to have eliminated the effing low memory issue. If it ends up that I can't or don't want to wait, I think I'll go for the Rezound.

Oh and I forgot to mention... if the Nexus only comes in 16GB, then I'm definitely getting the RAZR. I've gotta have more storage + options (SD card). If iPhone can have up to 64GB, then Samsung can give us at least 32GB on board if you're not going to give us an SD Card slot which would be dumb! That's my biggest reason I would still go for the RAZR. Up to 48GB.

Motorola makes a lot of statements that end up being completely false.

Not true. They lived up to that promise. Worldwide the RAZR is fastboot unlockable. On VZW they made it locked. Motorola is not in the financial position to fight against VZW's demand on this matter unfortunately

Let's see, two claims come to mind that have either been changed by Motorola, or were not followed through on. The first being the Xoom. There were claims that it would be upgraded to 4G LTE within a couple of months of its release. That then changed to the end of June 2011. It was later changed to the end of the summer of 2011. Even that final claim wasn't honored as the announcement of the upgrade wasn't put out until the last couple of days in September 2011.

Motorola claimed they would have devices upgraded within six weeks of ICS code being dropped. Of course that was later changed to a list of the devices that would be upgraded within six weeks of the code being dropped.
