What's Your Default Messaging App? Lots of lag with Google's

With Textra, I can see what I'm typing in portrait-mode, but in Landscape-mode (which I use 99.9% of the time) the auto-suggest (or whatever it's called) is in the way. Is that in the app or maybe on my phones keyboard options?

That's the keyboard's "problem". Textra doesn't provide one, they use whichever you're using as default on your phone.

Re: Texting App

I use this too. Works really well and has a couple cool features + lots of customizations

What are some of the cool features you use? I tried it briefly but then went to the stock Messages app because that's the only app that shows up notifications on the Always On Display. But the AOD needs to expand what it shows because not even Gmail shows up there.

No one uses Chomp SMS? Been using this for years and always really good. great plug ins and themes and has every feature pretty much....

If only the default dialer can be changed as seamlessly as the default messaging app.

I use the Verizon messages+ app. I can schedule messages, it uses wifi, I can install it on tablets and laptops and it synchronized between all of your devices, I can make calls through my tablet!!!, and has tons of customizations. And I get message notifications on my S7 on AOD! Which is a huge plus!

Those using Textra are basically using ChompSMS. They're very close in functionality and made by the same developer.

i use hangouts but i always get lag when typing and sending, off and on. it happened on my s6 edge also.
swiftkey keyboard and hangouts but i dont think it has anything to do with the keyboard.

I didn't get notifications on the AOD so I stopped using it. I can't find a setting for it. How do you enable it?

Using the stock texting app on the Samsung Galaxy S7, works great, can send scheduled text messages for any time or day, use the text app with push bullet and your text messages can be seen and answered on just about any device and computer. Never bogs down, wouldn't change for any other.

Should try Textra .. It does everything you said + customization (however you want it to look) along with running smooth :).

Used to love Google Messenger but if I recorded a voice clip it wouldn't seem to work for iPhone users. I've found with my Note 5 and the standard Samsung Messages app it all works and I kind of like it. So I left it on there.

Why are more people not saying Hangouts? I don't think it's the best, but I can't use anything else unless it integrates Hangouts messages and SMS. Some people I regularly talk to use Hangouts, and some don't, and I've tried Textra for those that don't...but it's SO much easier to just do it all from the same app...

I use Hangouts for the very reason you do.

RCS messaging is coming. Google bought Jibe and they are going to RCS messaging soon. RCS is basically what the idea ofHangouts is but it will be better. Hangouts incorporates SMS/MMS/IM into one app. RCS will be all of those in one.

Textra all the way. The stock messenger will begin to slow down as you store more and more messages. Textra never slows down and the customization it offers is flawless.
