What's your favorite apps to sideload into the Galaxy Gear

Re: Whats your favorite apps to sideload into the Galaxy Gear

Say how do you bluetooth tether with the note 3? I don't see that option on the phone. Phone isn't rooted, but the GG is with Null

WonderShare Mobile is hands down the easiest program to load apps on your gear. Has a lot of tools for phones too. It is a fantastic program. I started with JRE SDK and Android SDK which worked but was a hassle. I'm using Zplayer too. Was watching Big Bang Theory on my gear while waiting for the GF in the car--only problem is, every time I got a text or call, I had to start the video from the beginning--looking for a new app that bookmarks your place.

I put Sonic and Flappy Bird on it. The lag is pretty bad. I agree most of this stuff is for bragging rights. In the end, I'll probably just use it for what it's intended for--calls, alerts etc.

Well, I thought the lack of a calculator was a huge oversight on Sammy's part, so the first thing I sideloaded was a calculator app. Also,Word Search, Compulsive, and Sudoku Master.

Same here. I loaded this:

Actually just like on the new firmware for the Android phones the Debug mode is hidden. On your gear if you go to settings/gear info/about gear. Then tap software version 5 times it will make debug mode visable.

I got jefit (workout manager) to work. First I installed it on my phone.
Then I did the "get started" instead of using/creating an account.
Then I downloaded all the images for the workouts and a few workout routines.
Next I pulled the apk with apk extractor and installed it on the gear.
Then I did the initial startup on the gear just like I did on the phone.
The last thing I did was push all the files from the phone to the gear and voila! It works.

Now I can leave my phone in the locker at the gym and just use the gear to follow my workout routine.

It's a complicated setup but it's worth it.

That calculator looks great. Can you let us know the name of it? Thanks!

I think I figured it out on my own. It looks like Calculator (CyanogenMod)... Finally I found the best calculator for the Galaxy Gear (I'm sure google searches people will end up here).

RealCalc is the best calculator on a regular phone screen, but it is impossible and cramped on the Galaxy Gear. The Cyanogen Mod is freaking perfect for the Gear.

does anyone else have this issue? I sideload apps and they work great. As soon as my watch reconnects to my phone, they disappear from the apps section on he watch. I know they are still there. I can reboot the watch and see them, until it finishes connecting with my GS3. Any ideas?

under "About Gear" hit the software version button 10 times to unlock developer mode end the "USB Debug" button

Hey!
I have used ADB to sideloads apps to my Galaxy Gear. It worked perfectly and I now have any app I want on it. However, I switched my Galaxy Gear off overnight and charged it and when I turned it back on all the apps had gone.

Can any help please?

Also just wondering where these sideloaded apps save to on the Galaxy Gear? I have ES File Explorer on it but had a nosey and can't find these apps.

Thanks
Mel

Go to about gear, and tap the Software version a few times until you get a pop up message. USB Debug will now be available :)

I rooted my Gear 1 so I have a browser, Facebook, Twitter, Playstore, BBC News etc etc . It's very easy to do
It's also easy to tether to your phone for internet access
Now I can either download games & apps straight to it or sideload. Either way is a simple process.
Even Flexy keyboard is excellent on the Gear for notes.

I have no intention of buying the Gear2

I'd Honestly just root my gear, It's not very hard if you posses basic computer skills, you get the most out of your device with new features like bluetooth tethering for internet access (its not as fast as your phone would be but it's far from slow and it KILLS YOUR BATTERY!!!), google play store which allows you to download apps directly onto the gear (will not work with all apps but most of them), youtube, calender, and google voice work great. So if you want the most out of your watch i'd look into rooting your gear i used the unlocker on youtube just make sure to download the things you need before watching the video or even message me any questions you may have
